Fans are choosing Ella Langley over and over again. The country singer’s hit song, “Choosin’ Texas,” is on the precipice of setting an illustrious record for the most weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 for a non-holiday title by a woman with no male-billed acts. And she would be surpassing two of the most legendary woman artists in music if she accomplishes the historic feat.
This week, on the chart dated July 25, “Choosin’ Texas,” which first topped the Hot 100 in February, ties Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together” and Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” for the most weeks at No. 1 among non-holiday titles by women with no male-billed acts.
It won’t be revealed until Monday if Langley achieves the huge milestone and surpasses Carey and Houston, but, in the meantime, the Alabama native has been setting records almost every week on both the pop and country charts with either “Choosin’ Texas” or her album, Dandelion.
Langley wrote the two-stepping, mid-tempo song about a heartbreak with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor. As Langley told Billboard earlier this year, “I was on a writers retreat with Miranda, our first time writing together. At a young age, she had a pet kangaroo. She told me how she got pulled over once with the kangaroo in the passenger seat. The kangaroo got her out of a ticket and she said, ‘Of course, I had Texas plates, too.’ I went, ‘Well, she’s from Texas, I can tell…’ Forty-five minutes later, we had the song written.”
Below is a list of records “Choosin’ Texas” and Langley have already matched or set.
The summer music releases just keep coming with a sprawling new batch of projects arriving the week of Friday (July 24), featuring songs and albums by Charli xcx, KATSEYE, JENNIE of BLACKPINK and more.
Starting with the dance-pop innovator’s new full-length, Music, Fashion, Film, Charli — as promised — takes a hard left from Brat to uncover a new side of herself marked by experimentation and fuzz guitar. The project follows her 2024 breakout LP as well as Wuthering Heights, the concept album she made to accompany Emerald Fennell’s film adaptation of the iconic novel, making for a fascinating three-album run that shows off the star’s impressive range.
KATSEYE’s new single, “Animal,” is another one of the buzziest recent releases, marking the girl group’s second single — following Billboard Hot 100 No. 28 hit “Pinky Up” — from upcoming EP Wild. JENNIE’s new single, “Less Than a Lover,” marks the K-pop star’s first non-BLACKPINK release since dropping her first solo album Ruby and jumping on Tame Impala’s “Dracula,” which went top 10 this summer.
Beyond those three projects, streaming services were also blessed with new sets from Tyla, The Strokes and Kenyon Dixon — A*Pop, Reality Awaits and Ego Ruins Everything, respectively, as well as tracks by Morgan Wallen, who released “Been by Now,” Fridayy, who unleashed “Haiku,” and Carter Faith, who teamed up with Laci Kaye Booth and Baby Nova for “Pearl Handled Pistol.”
But which of those projects are you running back the most as July winds down? Billboard wants to know. Tell us your favorite release of the week by voting in the poll below.

La discografía de Led Zeppelin está repleta de éxitos y clásicos, pero entre todos ellos hay uno que el propio Robert Plant considera “ridículo”.
