Dolly Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame will be replaced after it was targeted by vandals just a week after her death, aged 80.
Images and videos shared on social media show that Parton’s name on the plaque has been obscured by multiple dark scratches. The damage doesn’t appear to be random.
Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, tells TMZ that repairs were already scheduled due to previous cracks found in Parton’s award.
The Hollywood Historic Trust, which grants and maintains the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, wrote on Instagram that it is “proud to honor the legacy of Dolly Parton with a replacement of her star.” The new landmark will be available for viewing this Friday.
The queen of country first received a star during a ceremony June 14, 1984, a dual presentation with actor Sylvester Stallone while they promoted their feature film Rhinestone. It is this award, which bears a record icon, which was damaged and has since been removed.
She received a second star in 2018 alongside Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt for their work together in the informal supergroup, Trio.
Parton’s death on Aug. 25 was met with a global wave of tributes, from fans to fellow artists and even world leaders. The country music superstar’s catalogue experienced a 1,143% gain in official on-demand streams in the United States week over week following her Aug. 25 death, according to Luminate.
As fans remembered Parton by turning to her music, a swag of her classic songs returned to Billboard’s charts. Her classic “Jolene” returned to the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 16. That’s easily a new high for the single, which originally reached No. 60 in 1974.

Lai Noelle isn’t old enough to drive, drink or vote. But she is old enough, and good enough, to win NBC’s America’s Got Talent.
The 14-year-old native of Dallas, Texas made it count during the Season 21 Live Quarterfinal of AGT, for a performance that aired on Tuesday night (Sept. 1). The glare of the big lights and the stress of the moment didn’t undermine Noelle, who absolutely smashed a reimagined cover of Elton John’s “Your Song.”
Noelle brought her own flair and power to the number, which was received by a standing ovation from the room. Those on their feet included judges Howie Mandel, Mel B and guest Kenan Thompson, stepping in for Simon Cowell. It was Cowell who, earlier in the season, gave Noelle the Golden Buzzer when she auditioned with Sienna Spiro’s “Die On This Hill.”
“Oh my gosh,” Mel B remarked after the latest performance. “You have so much more to learn and experience, but where you’re starting from is pure perfection. Let me tell you that right now. That was incredible.”
Vergara agreed. “I mean, you sound like you’re a huge artist already. I am a little bit upset because, you know that I was going to give you the Golden Buzzer and Simon just took it, took you away from me. But you know what, you deserve to hear. What a wonderful voice and what a wonderful song.”
Mandel remarked that Noelle was “so beyond your years.” And her talking voice was “nothing like your singing voice.” Cowell knows his stuff, Mandel reminded everyone in the place. Noelle is “a golden buzzer winner.”
Kenan didn’t waste any time. “I hope y’all ready for some more confetti,” the funnyman and actor warned. And with that, he instructed Vergara to activate the Golden Buzzer — on his behalf. And with it, streams of gold, spins, twirls and smiles. As the confetti rained down, Thompson explained that Noelle was “dynamically gifted” and an artist who brought that incredibly rare “wow factor.”
Eleven acts took the stage, and now America votes. Only, with the Golden Buzzer, Noelle can skip the drama and progress to the Finals.

George Michael has left us, but the British pop star and his music will never be forgotten.
A newly restored concert film which captures Michael as the peak of his considerable powers in the late 1980s promises to remind fans of the late WHAM singer, and introduce newcomers to his talents.
George Michael: The Faith Tour, a previously unseen film documenting the singer’s landmark 1988 tour, is due out in cinemas from Nov. 6, through a partnership with George Michael Entertainment, Mercury Studios and Sony Music Entertainment. That film now has an official trailer and a poster, both of which can be seen in full below.
In the new, 100-second clip, Michael performs snippets of his WHAM-era release “Careless Whisper,” and solo cuts “Father Figure” and “Faith.”
“I guess what ‘Faith’ meant to me was,” he remarks in the clip, “life to me was still going to deliver.”
Announced in March, the film was shot during the 1988 European leg of Michael’s Faith Tour at Paris’ Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, and studies the artist at the crossroads of his career, just two years after WHAM! officially split and filmed soon after release of his solo debut LP Faith.
Longtime collaborators Andy Morahan and David Austin direct, using footage, restored and remastered from a 14-camera shoot on 35mm film across two nights. According to producers, an original short film by Mary McCartney opens the feature, using newly discovered audio and imagery from 1986–1988, the timeframe during which he wrote and performed Faith.
As previously reported, an accompanying live album titled The Faith Tour will be released globally through Sony Music. The 18-track set will feature previously unreleased performances recorded during the world tour and include material spanning Michael’s solo catalogue as well as songs from his earlier work with Wham!.
Michael’s 1987 album Faith is one of the defining pop music releases of its era, earning the Grammy Award for album of the year and yielding four No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100: “Faith,” “Father Figure,” “One More Try” and “Monkey.” Michael remains the only British male solo artist to land four Hot 100 chart-toppers from a single album.
The pop superstar died on Christmas Day 2016, at the age of 53, and was posthumously inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2023.
In the same year as his Rock Hall nod, Netflix released the original documentary WHAM!. The story of those groundbreaking concerts in China was retold in the 1986 film Wham! in China: Foreign Skies. A separate documentary, WHAM! 10 Days In China, arrived in July, and premiered last month on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
Universal Pictures Content Group and Bleecker Street’s event cinema division Crosswalk recently announced the acquisition of international and North American rights to George Michael: The Faith Tour.

Tupac Shakur’s family is speaking out after Duane “Keffe D” Davis was found guilty in connection with the rapper’s 1996 murder.
A Las Vegas jury convicted Davis of first-degree murder on Monday, marking the first conviction in the nearly 30-year-old case surrounding Shakur’s killing. Prosecutors alleged that Davis orchestrated the drive-by shooting as retaliation following an altercation involving his nephew and members of Shakur’s entourage earlier that night. Davis now faces the possibility of life in prison.

Following the verdict, Shakur’s family shared a statement expressing gratitude and relief over the outcome. The message paid particular tribute to Shakur’s late mother, Afeni Shakur, recognizing her decadeslong devotion to her son and his legacy.
“The family of Tupac Amaru Shakur is elated and relieved by today’s verdict,” the family said, thanking jurors for their attention to the evidence presented during the trial.
The statement also acknowledged the relatives, friends and fans who have supported Shakur’s family over the years, as well as the marshals and advocates who assisted and protected family members throughout the court proceedings.
While Monday’s verdict brought a major development in one of music’s most closely followed unsolved murder cases, the family emphasized that Shakur’s story and influence extend far beyond the trial.
“While this verdict is decades in the making, this is not the end of the story,” the statement continued. “Tupac’s legacy and impact on the world lives on and we will continue to do everything we can to keep his spirit alive.”
Shakur’s sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, was among the family members in the courtroom when the verdict was announced. She became emotional following the decision and later embraced members of the prosecution team.
The conviction comes three decades after Shakur was shot in a drive-by attack in Las Vegas on Sept. 7, 1996. He was 25 years old when he died from his injuries days later. Davis, 63, was the only person criminally charged in connection with the killing.
The family’s statement comes from Shakur’s relatives and not from his estate, which is separate from his family.
Shakur’s influence has endured on the Billboard charts, earning three No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 during his lifetime. Those albums include Me Against the World and All Eyez on Me, while several posthumous releases also topped the chart.

The 58th NAACP Image Awards will also mark the return of four daytime drama categories: outstanding daytime drama series, outstanding actor in a daytime drama series, outstanding actress in a daytime drama series and outstanding supporting actor in a daytime drama series.
Nominees will be announced on Jan. 7, 2017. That is also the date that public voting opens. Public voting closes on Feb. 1. The date of the awards ceremony will be announced later. The 2026 show, hosted by Deon Cole, was held on Feb. 28 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, Calif.

Eladio Carrión scores his second No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, as “Polaroid” jumps 3-1 on the Sept. 5 dated ranking. The new winning chapter lands two years after the Latin rapper last held the crown in April 2024.
“Polaroid” completes its climb to the top of the overall Latin radio chart after a lengthy 18 weeks. It cracked the top 10 on Aug. 15 (climbing 11-9), but then dipped to No. 13 the following week, before jumping back into the top 10 on Aug. 29 (rising 13-3). A 13% audience gain drove the track to 6.9 million impressions in the United States during the tracking week ending Aug. 27, according to Luminate, sending Carrión to its first No. 1 since 2024’s “TQMQA.”

“Polaroid,” produced by Carrión, Hide Miyabi and AndrahPR, broke into the charts in May as its parent album, CORSA, stormed into the top 10 on the Top Latin Albums chart.
