Insomniac Events has reached a settlement that will keep the global dance music company involved in two Miami venues following a protracted legal battle with a group of the city’s club operators.

In a joint statement to Billboard on Friday (July 10), reps for Insomniac and business partners David Sinopoli, Davide Danese and Jose Gabriel Coloma Cano say they “have amicably resolved their dispute.” Insomniac, partially owned by Live Nation, previously worked with the trio of men to run Miami’s Club Space and Factory Town venues until a legal fight broke out two years ago.

Related

“Insomniac will continue to operate Club Space alongside David Sinopoli and maintain its commitment to Factory Town,” the reps say of the settlement. “Davide Danese and Coloma Cano will continue to operate Jolene, along with David Sinopoli.  Davide Danese and Coloma Cano will also undertake new projects.“

In 2019, Insomniac acquired an ownership stake in Club Space, at that point co-owned by Sinopoli, Danese and Cano, as its first Miami venue. The business relationship was a success at first, leading the group to embark on another joint project for the upstart Miami venue Factory Town in 2022.

That’s when the trouble arose. Insomniac alleges that in 2024, Sinopoli, Danese and Cano began to make “outrageous demands” for more money and control of Factory Town. The three men, meanwhile, claim Insomniac “methodically and unilaterally” stripped away their ownership rights over the venue, leaving them with “all the work, all the risk and a drastically reduced upside.”

The two sides went into mediation in June 2025 and emerged with an initial settlement, under which Insomniac would buy Sinopoli, Danese and Cano out of Factory Town for $3 million. But that August, Insomniac sued the trio for allegedly violating that deal, claiming they continued to operate as if they controlled the venue, including by telling Ibiza promoters that they’d “won their lawsuit” and interfering with event planning.

Related

Sinopoli, Danese and Cano countersued Insomniac a month later, claiming the settlement actually required them to collaborate on Factory Town’s annual Hocus Pocus Halloween party and programming for Art Basel Miami. The trio said Insomniac breached the deal by unilaterally making talent booking decisions, such as an offer to party brand CircoLoco at a 44% markup from the prior year’s deal.

The countersuit also included some inflammatory allegations against Insomniac’s CEO, Pasquale Rotella. The legal papers accused Rotella of “predatory tactics and greed” and called him “insufferable to work with,” adding that Sinopoli, Danese and Cano “had the misfortune of witnessing and experiencing first-hand Rotella’s cruelty, self-centeredness and volatility.” Insomniac characterized these claims as an irrelevant “smear campaign.”

The two sides entered renewed settlement discussions in the fall. Their lawyers notified the judge overseeing their case last month that they’d reached a deal, and the case has now been closed.

Country star John Rich has been officially sworn in as Special Envoy for American Landowners, according to a White House social media post Friday (July 10).

The post shows the Big & Rich member being sworn in surrounded by his family and shaking hands with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.

Earlier Friday, Rich also posted heralding the ceremony: “Today, I’ll be sworn in as ‘Special Envoy for American Landowners’ by President Trump at the Oval. My family will be there with me! (My Dad bought his first new suit in 25 years). I greatly thank @realDonaldTrump for giving me the opportunity to fight for my fellow Americans.”

Rich also quote-tweeted the White House post, adding alongside an American-flag emojio: “Let’s get to work.”

Though the swearing-in did not take place until Friday, Brooke Rollins, secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture, announced Rich’s appointment last month.

“America’s farmers, ranchers, and landowners are among the greatest stewards of our nation’s resources and the backbone of our rural communities,”said Rollins, in a statement posted on the USDA site on June 10. “President Trump understands that private property rights are fundamental to the American way of life. John Rich has long been a champion for rural America, and I look forward to working alongside him as we continue fighting for the people who feed, fuel, and clothe our nation.”

In his role, according to the USDA, Rich will engage with and advocate for farmers, ranchers and private landowners and “engage directly with landowners across the country and work to address challenges posed by government overreach, activist pressure campaigns, and outside interests that threaten private property rights and the long-term viability of rural communities.”

Those threats, according to the release, include “pressure related to large-scale solar and wind development that may impact productive farmland, ranchland, and rural livelihoods.”

Rich, an ardent Trump supporter, has turned to song in the past to express his feelings about perceived government overreach including in “The Devil & The TVA,” a song he released last September. The tune criticizes the Tennessee Valley Authority, a federally owned public utility established by President Franklin Roosevelt in 1933. Rich fought against the TVA’s plan to build a methane gas facility in Tennessee’s Cheatham County that would impact local farmland.

“President Trump has afforded me the great honor of serving as Special Envoy for American Landowners,” said Rich, in a statement. “I look forward to representing and advocating for landowners’ rights and standing up for the farmers, ranchers, and rural families who work every day to provide for our country. Protecting private property rights and ensuring that landowners are not harassed, intimidated, or pressured by outside interests will be at the heart of this mission.”

Return of the Mac. Drake has wagered a $1 million bet on Conor McGregor to win in his return to the ring this weekend at UFC 329.

Drake posted his betting slip on Instagram on Friday (July 10) featuring a seven-figure wager on Stake with the belief that McGregor will defeat Max Holloway in McGregor’s comeback to the octagon in Las Vegas on Saturday night (July 11).

Drake’s $1 million wager would net him $1.85 million for a total of $2.85 million if McGregor wins the welterweight bout. As of press time, Conor McGregor is an underdog in the fight with +180 odds, according to FanDuel.

McGregor and Drake have been friends for a decade now after the UFC fighter revealed they connected in 2016 and met at one of Drizzy’s Summer Sixteen Tour stops later that year.

“I’m a big fan of Drake. I had a meeting with Jimmy Iovine of Apple and he invited me to the show,” McGregor said in an interview with UFC’s Meghan Olivi. “I’d spoke to Drake before the first Diaz fight – he reached out and messaged me – and we’ve been in contact since then.”

McGregor invited Drake to join him on stage at the weigh-in for his fight against Khabib at UFC 229 in October 2018, which found the 6 God sporting an Irish flag in support of McGregor on his back.

Drake is no stranger to gambling. He’s been locked in betting on the FIFA World Cup, which included a $1 wager on Morocco in an attempt to jinx the African nation in their match-up against Canada, but that didn’t end up working out for Drizzy. He also posted a clip hitting a $30 million jackpot while playing in the Stake casino earlier in July.

On the music front, Drake released a trifecta of albums in May, with ICEMAN, HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR debuting in top three slots of the Billboard 200. ICEMAN‘s “Janice STFU” also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Drizzy the most chart-topping hits of any male soloist.

Benny Blanco is giving Spanish-language music a beautiful new meaning with his next project.

The producer, who is set to release his forthcoming album Hermoso (Gorgeous) on Aug. 14, is letting fans take a look at what it’s all about. On Friday (June 11), the artist released “Joven y Salvaje” (young and wild), a song he produced to accompany the vocals of Spanish rapper Bb trickz.

Related

Its rhythmic foundation relies on a simple, repeating melodic structure, paired with a house-inspired beat. Within the track, Trickz delivers verses that capture the rebelliousness and occasional recklessness of youth. “Young and wild/ I haven’t slept, and it’s a Tuesday/ A stoley is in the garage/ I smoke zaza; I’m on Mars,” the rapper says in Spanish.

The music video of the song was also released on YouTube. Directed by Jake Schreier, the clip shows the artist — who previously appeared on Charli XCX’s Brat remix album — moving through a plain, white, minimalist space before getting dressed in racing gear, including a protective jumpsuit, a face cover, gloves, and a helmet. Once she finishes getting dressed, the room explodes with aggressive bursts of fireworks erupting.

Hermoso will be Blanco’s fourth studio album. In 2018, he released his debut project, Friends Keep Secrets. In 2021, he dropped Friends Keep Secrets 2, which expanded on his first album. In 2025, the producer, along with singer and wife Selena Gomez, released a joint project titled I Said I Love You First, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

The Supreme Court of Puerto Rico has ruled that Bad Bunny’s ex-girlfriend can continue suing the star for allegedly featuring her voice saying the phrase “Bad Bunny baby” on the chart-topping album Un Verano Sin Ti without permission.

In a Wednesday (July 8) ruling, obtained by Billboard and translated from Spanish by the service DeepL, a majority of justices on the island’s highest court upheld a series of previous rulings that sustained Carliz De La Cruz Hernández’s claims over the use of her voice on the 2022 song “Dos Mil 16”. However, the court said De La Cruz Hernández waited too long to sue over the same vocal sample on Bad Bunny’s 2015 track “Pa Ti,” and these claims are barred by the statute of limitations. The lawsuit will now move forward as to “Dos Mil 16” only.

Related

De La Cruz Hernández dated Bad Bunny (Benito Martinez Ocasio) on and off for several years beginning in 2011, and in 2015 she recorded a voice memo saying the tagline “Bad Bunny baby” at his request. She sued the singer and his label, Rimas Entertainment, in 2023, alleging she had not given permission or gotten proper financial compensation for the use of this recording on his songs.

The lawsuit’s key claims are brought under Puerto Rico’s right of publicity law. Just like in many other U.S. jurisdictions, this statute protects an individual’s voice from being used without their consent in a commercial setting. Traditionally, this has meant that people can only sue over the use of their voices in advertisements, and sound recordings are exempt.

In this specific case, however, a Puerto Rico judge ruled in 2024 that De La Cruz Hernández’s voice on “Dos Mil 16” was actually a form of advertising. That’s because, according to the judge, the sample’s circulation on social media fueled fan speculation about whether Un Verano Sin Ti would explore De La Cruz Hernández and Bad Bunny’s romantic relationship, thus driving album sales.

This finding was upheld in an initial appeal last year. On Wednesday (July 8), Puerto Rico’s Supreme Court agreed as well that the various lower courts got it right when they declined to dismiss De La Cruz Hernández’s right of publicity claims: “They did not err in determining that the facts presented regarding the commercial or business exploitation of Ms. De la Cruz Hernández’s voice were sufficient to draw attention to the product in question or to inform the public about it through the media,” wrote Justice Mildred G. Pabón Charneco for the majority.

In addition to these claims over the use of her voice, De La Cruz Hernández will also be allowed to keep pursuing copyright claims against Bad Bunny for allegedly infringing her rights to the “Bad Bunny baby” voice memo. This part of the lawsuit was dismissed in 2024, but the Supreme Court majority revived it on Wednesday after finding that the recording was potentially copyrightable.

“To the extent that such a performance using her voice is fixed in a tangible medium, we recognize that copyright may arise in the recording,” wrote Justice Pabón Charneco. “Ms. De la Cruz Hernández alleged in her complaint that the recording of her personal, distinctive and incomparable rendition of the phrase was misused and that it was used without proper attribution. Therefore, we conclude that the plaintiff has presented sufficient facts to eventually offer evidence justifying this claim.”

Not all the justices on Puerto Rico’s top court agreed with these findings. Justice Angel Colón Pérez filed a dissent saying he and other justices would have dismissed both the copyright and right of publicity claims against Bad Bunny: “It seems clear to us that, in the context of the present litigation, none of the causes of action invoked by Ms. De La Cruz Hernández is legally valid under any [law] available in our jurisdiction,” wrote Justice Colón Pérez.

Reps for both De La Cruz Hernández and Bad Bunny did not immediately return requests for comment on the decision on Friday (July 10).

Hilary Duff has been bringing Y2K nostalgia to every night of her Lucky Me Tour since it kicked off last month, and across two sold-out nights at the L.A.-area Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, on Wednesday and Thursday nights, she turned back the calendar to 2004 with a very personal throwback T-shirt.

Related

Duff wore her very own 2004 concert tee for the occasion, which includes photos of the then-16-year-old pop star/actress on the front and the back and a full list of that year’s tour dates on the back. She also started selling a reprint of the tee at Forum merch booths and on her website.

As seen in Billboard‘s video from Thursday below, Duff wore the tee to perform her 2003 single “Why Not” from The Lizzie McGuire Movie soundtrack and her Metamorphosis album. Duff also re-recorded the song for her (Mine) EP this year as a well as a Walmart-exclusive version of her most recent album, February’s Luck… or Something.

Billboard caught up with Duff backstage at the Forum for an Aperol Spritz meet-and-greet, where she was asked about a fan interaction she’ll remember long after her tour ends.

“A more recent interaction was actually with the sweetest 8-year-old who was excited to see me — but I do think her mom was even more excited secretly,” Duff laughed. “They told me it was her first concert and that I was also the mother’s first concert, which is an amazing full-circle moment while I’m in such a thick part of my own life, returning to music and motherhood.”

The Lucky Me Tour continues Saturday night in Mountain View, California, and extends through early next year in Mexico City.

For You Fest is turning the feed you scroll through into a festival you can stroll through, announcing this week that its inaugural event will take place in November with programs led by social-media stars such as Quenlin Blackwell, Tana Mongeau, Trixie Mattel, Trisha Paytas, Drew Afualo, Caleb Hearon, Meg Stalter and more.

Kicking off Saturday, Nov. 14, at Great Park in Irvine, Calif., the two-day festival will open with a live taping of Superfans, a new podcast hosted by Billboard executive editor Lyndsey Havens, featuring fans and a surprise guest. That’s one of several in-person recordings coming to the podcast stage, which itself is one of three main divisions of the event. There will also be a music stage as well as a fashion and beauty stage, plus dedicated areas for meet-and-greets and various workshops on the grounds that attendees can add on to their tickets.

Blackwell and Owen Thiele are two more of the podcasters lined up for the first day of the festival, while Afualo and Hearon, Tana Mongeau, Stalter and more will bring their pods to the festival on day two, which is Nov. 15. Mattell, Paytas, Rebecca Black, Absolutely and others will perform on the music stage over the course of the weekend, while Chappell Roan collaborator Ramisha Sattar and makeup artist Patrick Ta are locked in to lead some of the many fashion and beauty offerings over the weekend.

Beyond the live installations, guests will be able to explore the For You Fest Trend Market — featuring a selection of the buzziest current brands to sample and shop — as well as dine and drink at the Food & Bev Village.

Tickets for the festival first became available in a presale on Friday (July 10), featuring options such as general admission for one or both days, pit viewing and VIP, plus “Bestie” and suite packages. Anyone can now purchase the remaining tickets on the For You Fest website.
