For Tinashe, opening up for an artist isn’t just about getting onstage in front of a huge crowd. She wants to know that the artist, as well as their fans, will actually give her room to be herself.

So when Harry Styles came calling, she was ready to say yes.

Speaking at the Spotify x Coach event in New York City on Wednesday (Sept. 16), Tinashe talked about joining Styles’ on his upcoming Together, Together stadium tour, noting that she’s already opened for some of the music industry’s biggest names, including Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Beyoncé and Maroon 5.

“I reached the point where I was like, ‘I’m not gonna open for anyone unless I feel like they really understand what I’m about,’” she said.

Styles, she added, fits that criteria. Tinashe praised the singer for being “very open to the artistry” and focused on making sure fans have a good time. She points to the fact that that’s something she sees as the heart of live music and performances.

“I’m excited to be able to get up there in Phoenix,” she said, before imagining the scale of the shows. “I never perform my songs in a stadium.”

Tinashe will open both of Styles’ April 2 and 3 shows at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, kicking off the North American leg of his expanded Together, Together tour. The 2027 stadium run will also bring Styles to Pasadena, Dallas, Toronto, Atlanta and Chicago, with a different special guest joining him as a supporting act in each city.

The timing also finds Tinashe as she’s entering a new era. Her fifth studio album, Popstar, is due Sept. 25, following 2024’s Quantum Baby. Her “No Broke Boys” collaboration with Disco Lines also became her second U.S. top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching No. 39.

The earliest surviving television appearance of The Seekers, Australia’s most successful music export of the 1960s, has been rediscovered, digitized and shared online.

The eight-minute video captures Judith Durham, Keith Potger, Bruce Woodley and Athol Guy lip-syncing to two of their own songs, “A Closer Walk with Thee” and “Myra,” for an appearance on the Graham Kennedy-hosted live variety show In Melbourne Tonight.

In the clip, Kennedy, the late Australian TV legend remarks: “There’s no gimmicks there, and it’s a great, strong voice, isn’t it?”

That performance beamed out March 23, 1964 on GTV, and hasn’t been broadcast for six decades, according to the National Film and Sound Archive, the organization that collects, preserves and shares Australia’s audiovisual culture.

“This is arguably the tape that kickstarted The Seekers’ international success,” explains NFSA senior curator Simon Smith. “Forgotten for 60 years, it’s now digitized and available for the world to enjoy.”

According to the vault, the folk-pop trailblazers sent the black and white 16mm film as promotional reel to U.K. talent agency The Grade Organisation.

The rest is recorded music history.

With their 1965 song “I’ll Never Find Another You,” The Seekers became the first Australian act to hit No. 1 on the U.K. singles chart.

Later that year, they climbed the U.K. chart summit again with “The Carnival Is Over.” In the space of just two years, they grabbed six U.K. top 10 hits, including their best-known track “Georgy Girl,” which was nominated for an Academy Award for original song and reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 1967, at the very peak of their powers, the four-piece performed to an audience of 200,000 — still considered the biggest concert crowd in the southern hemisphere — and they were named Australians of the Year.

Durham embarked on a solo career in 1967, and reunited with the band on several occasions, including in 2013, for the Seekers’ 50th anniversary tour. Those best-laid plans, however, took a back seat when Durham suffered a cerebral hemorrhage.

She recovered, and the following year Durham and her bandmates were individually recognized as Officers of the Order of Australia.

The Seekers were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1995, they received the Ted Albert Award for outstanding services to Australian music at the APRA Awards in 2013, and they’ve had a stamp issued in their memory. Durham died in 2022, aged 79, after suffering complications from a long-standing lung condition.

The NFSA acquired the footage to mark the 70th anniversary of the launch of television in Australia, a moment that was timed to coincide with the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne. Keith Potger, curator of Judith Durham’s estate memorabilia, donated the rare film.

Calvin Harris will return to Australia early next year for his first-ever headline tour.

The superstar Scottish DJ and producer will go coast-to-coast for a four-city trek next February, his first in these parts as the main man.

Presented by Untitled Group, Full Circle and Live Nation, Calvin Harris – Australia Tour 2027 will get Perth bouncing from Feb. 18, 2027 at Langley Park, then heads east for shows in Brisbane (RNA Showgrounds on Feb. 19), Sydney (The Domain, Feb. 20) and wraps up at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse (Feb. 26).

Aussie fans can expect Harris to whip out his anthems, reps say, from “One Kiss” with Dua Lipa, to “This Is What You Came For” featuring Rihanna, “Summer,” “Feel So Close,” “Sweet Nothing” featuring Florence Welch, and “Blame” featuring John Newman. 

The Grammy Award-winner last visited Australia as the mainstage headliner for Festival X in late 2022, and has previously performed sets at the Stereosonic in 2011, 2012, and 2014, and the 2010 Big Day Out (Festival X, Stereosonic and BDO are no longer on the festivals calendar).

The towering EDM star (real name: Adam Wiles) boasts 11 No. 1 singles in the United Kingdom, dating back to his 2008 collaboration with Dizzee Rascal, “Dance Wiv Me.” No other dance act has more leaders on the Official U.K. Singles Chart.

His collection of career honors include two Brit Awards, an Ivor Novello Award, he owns the record for the most U.K. No. 1 singles in the 2010s (eight), and has the distinction of being the first British solo artist to pass one billion streams on Spotify. 

The general public on-sale for Harris’ tour down under starts next Thursday, Sept. 24 at 1pm local time.

“Rajah of Rhinestones” and “Sultan of Sequins” were the two titles given to the legendary nine-time Emmy-winning and three-time Oscar-nominated costume designer Bob Mackie, and they couldn’t have been more fitting. Recognized for being behind some of the most sequined and sparkling outfits in Hollywood, Mackie — who died Monday (Sept. 14) at age 87 — has left an unforgettable mark on pop culture with his timeless work.

Mackie’s career as a costume designer spanned more than half a century. He began designing in 1961, earning his breakout gig through his work as a costume designer on the The Carol Burnett Show. From Cher’s elaborate, head-turning “nude illusion gown” and feathered headpiece at the 1974 Met Gala to Sabrina Carpenter’s iconic three-set archival Mackie look at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards and its afterparty, the designer has a number of dazzling pieces that have been seen on plenty of music’s biggest stars and inspired the work of countless others.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Mr. Bob Mackie passed away today,” read the statement shared to Mackie’s social media about his death. “He lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a Fashion and Costume Designer, which is all he ever wanted to do. His genius and extraordinary designs will live on forever, continuing to bring beauty into this world.”

Jason Kelce got the memo: what happened at MSG stays at MSG. But that didn’t stop the former NFL great for spilling a little on his brother Travis Kelce’s wedding to Taylor Swift this summer during ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown show on Monday (Sept. 14).

Before Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs demolished the Denver Broncos 31-10 on the first Monday Night Football matchup of the season, Jason Kelce pried the door open just a bit on what the vibe was like at the New York arena for the star-studded affair whose details have remained the best kept secret in show business.

“So many awesome people, obviously, all walks of life,” said Jason, who was the best man at the July 3 affair. “The football world, celebrity world, singers from Nashville, actors, actresses, people that we grew up with in Cleveland Heights, a melting pot of individuals,” said Jason of the guest mix he described as “insane.”

Jason said the ceremony was “gorgeous,” saying the couple did an “incredible job” putting together the event that was officiated by actor/comedian Adam Sandler in what Kelce described as “in a very Adam Sandler, beautiful way.” ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt, who was also at the wedding, seconded that emotion, saying of Sandler, “yes, he did.”

“And then, from then on, it was a party. It was so good seeing everybody out there,” Jason said, giving out some extra love to “all of the people that sang” and “all the people dancing. It was a very fun evening.”

While we know for sure the couple got hitched — mostly because billboards outside MSG read “JUST&T MARRIED,” very few details about what went on inside have leaked so far, other than some of the names on the guest list, which included performers Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks, as well as Ciara, Avril Lavigne, Tate McRae and Ice Spice. Among the guests who reportedly attended were: Jessica Alba, Elizabeth Banks, Stephen Colbert, Bradley Cooper, Tom Cruise — who was seated next to Swift in a luxury box at Monday night’s Chiefs game — Lena Dunham, Jimmy Fallon, Tom Hanks, Mariska Hargitay, Liam Hemsworth, Conan O’Brien, Brad Pitt, Gracie Abrams, Jack Antonoff, Benson Boone and many more.

Even Travis has kept details sparse in the interviews he’s done since the wedding, including in a teaser clip of an ESPN interview with Chris Berman in which Kelce called the wedding the “best night of my life.” He added, “Marrying Taylor was, you know, it was more than I could have ever dreamed it to be because of all the people that showed up … and the amount of, you know, love that was in the air.”

Travis talked a bit more about the special night on the recent season premiere of his New Heights podcast with Jason, where he said, “Me and Taylor are so thankful to everybody that showed up. It was just so magical, man. Thank you to everyone at MSG that allowed us to do this. We wanted to do it somewhere where we could have a very intimate and genuine setting without a lot of distractions, we needed it to be a private feel.”

She might not have been at the Emmy Awards on Monday night (Sept. 14), but Taylor Swift was still on our TV screens thanks to Monday Night Football.

Swift opted to attend husband Travis Kelce’s season-opening Kansas City Chiefs game against the Denver Broncos. She was joined by her mom Andrea, dad Scott and brother Austin in the suite, as well as her newly minted in-laws, Donna and Ed Kelce, and a surprise face: Tom Cruise.

The blockbuster actor sat next to Swift in the suite and was spotted during the broadcast chatting up the pop superstar and even sharing a hug to celebrate a Chiefs touchdown. Cruise is clearly a friend of newlyweds Swift and Kelce, as he was in attendance at their July 3 nuptials, according to post-wedding anecdotes from sportscasters Joe Buck and Greg Olsen.

While we haven’t yet gotten a full look at Swift’s game day outfit, online fashion sleuths have already pinpointed that she’s wearing the red-and-white gingham polo dress from Guest in Residence based on the brief glimpse we’ve gotten on TV. The instantly in-demand dress appears to already be sold out in Swift’s color scheme.

While Swift chose the Chiefs/Broncos game over Monday’s Emmys, she did pre-tape a Law & Order: SVU sketch with her longtime friend Mariska Hargitay, who hosted the awards show. The sketch was all about decoding whether Swift would attend the show — seeing as she was nominated this year for outstanding variety special (pre-recorded), among five nominations for Disney+’s Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show; The Muppet Show special starring Sabrina Carpenter took the prize instead.

It’s not a stretch to say that when Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker gets behind his kit he is an animal. The hard-bashing, in-demand producer and collaborator attacks the skins like they owe him money. But in a new PSA for Humane World For Animals (formerly known as the Humane Society of the United States), Barker, 50, steps out from behind his drums to share a very special message about taking action to stand up for animals as part of the organization’s Small Steps For Good campaign.

“I haven’t eaten meat since I was 13 and I’ve been a vegetarian since then,” Barker, 50, tells Billboard about his longtime meat-free lifestyle. “I didn’t like the taste at the time and then I figured out where hot dogs and ham and steak came from and there’s not a chance … ‘nope, can’t do that!’ I’ve always loved animals and I never liked the taste of meat.”

Barker says he teamed up with the Humane World For Animals because he felt a kinship with their mission. Plus, the goals of the campaign felt like a natural fit for him, including adopting pets from local animal shelters, not wearing products made out of real fur and using cruelty-free products such as those from his own vegan wellness company, Barker Wellness.

He’s been such an outspoken advocate for animal welfare that Barker says some of his favorite designers will make vegan versions of their clothes or sneakers for him and his next collab with VANS is planned as an all-vegan shoe. “All my clothes are vegan-friendly,” says Barker, who describes his daily “uniform” as Dickies pants, all-vegan Vans and a T-shirt.

He’s also happy to put his money where his meat-free mouth is, including investing in L.A.’s upscale plant-based Crossroads Kitchen after chef Tal Ronnen pitched him on the idea at a Bad Brains show. “The other day I was at Jay Leno’s garage and we drove some cars and when I left with my 84-year-old dad I said, ‘let’s eat at this spot,’ and I could tell he wasn’t thrilled,” he said of his choice of Lotus Vegan, a spot he remembered riding his bike to when he lived in North Hollywood.

“And then during our meal, I said, ‘dad, I eat at these places because they’re all vegan and they need the support to stay open for business another month,’” says Barker, who became vegan after his the horrific 2008 plane crash that took the lives of two of his best friends and the plane’s two pilots. “Rather than eating at a restaurant that has vegan options, I like to eat at an actual mom-and-pop, struggling vegan restaurant doing their thing.”

The 30-second PSA opens with Barker in suburban dad mode, chilling out in a cream-colored turtleneck sweater, glasses and jeans, lamenting, “Being good? I always thought that was boring,” before he rips off his shirt to expose his famously inked-up torso. “But f– that. Good is never boring!” he says as the jazzy soundtrack switches to a punk rock beat.

Slipping into a Cookie Monster-blue jacket, Barker says, “Faux fur is way cooler than real fur. Plant based in plant based!,” he adds as he digs into a bowl of beans. “I always support people doing good in the world … just do good. That’s the move.”

“Creating a better world for animals takes bold systemic change, and it starts with the small choices people make every day,” says Humane World for Animals president/CEO Kitty Block in a statement. “That’s the idea behind our Small Steps for Good campaign: Showing that everyone has the power to make a difference for animals. Travis has inspired people for years by using his voice and platform to advocate for animals in a way that is authentic to who he is. We hope this campaign encourages others to discover their own small steps and see how those actions can add up to meaningful change.”  

As for whether Barker’s wife, Kourtney Kardashian, or their blended family are on board the vegan train, Travis says that he doesn’t judge anyone for their choices — his good friend podcaster Joe Rogan is a loud and proud meat eating hunter — but he said his daughter Alabama has been a vegetarian her whole life and his other kids eat vegan when they’re out to dinner with him, including the couple’s two-year-old son, Rocky Thirteen.

At the end of the day, Barker says the campaign’s message is perfectly clear: “Be nice to animals. It’s not that hard and it won’t cause too much of an identity crisis for anyone.”

Charli XCX has responded to fan frustration over the limited number of dates on the upcoming UK and European leg of her Music, Fashion, Film tour, explaining that touring takes a significant toll on her.

The singer recently announced a six-show 2027 run across Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, London, Amsterdam and Paris, prompting some fans to voice disappointment in the comments over the small number of arena dates.

In an Instagram statement, Charli acknowledged the reaction directly. “I know there’s a lot of frustration in the comments about the fact that I am not doing lots of dates. I am really sorry if you feel disappointed, but I have to honor my truth as an artist: touring is really emotionally and physically hard for me,” she wrote.

“I am not looking for sympathy and I have a huge amount of respect for artists who can handle it at an intense, lengthy and high-octane level, but I am just not one of those human beings and I never have been,” she continued, noting she had opted for a shorter run on her current North American tour for the same reasons.

“I’m sorry if you feel I am letting you down; I really am. Perhaps one day I will be built for the kind of touring you expect from me, but right now I am not.” She added that she hoped both fans and herself would enjoy the shows, saying she would “try my best to stay in a healthy and positive mindset.”

The tour supports Music, Fashion, Film, Charli’s seventh studio album, released July 24 as the follow-up to her culture-dominating 2024 record Brat.

The album marked another sharp turn for the Essex-raised artist, leaning into darker, grittier rock sounds, and debuted at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart — her fourth U.K. chart-topper, and one that made her the first British female artist to score two new No. 1 albums in the same calendar year.

In the U.S., the album opened at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and gave Charli her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. The UK and European run follows a landmark summer that included her first headline set at Reading Festival, and precedes the North American leg of the tour, which commenced on Friday (Sept. 11) in Philadelphia.

The 12-date arena trek includes stops in New York, Toronto, Boston, Atlanta and Los Angeles before wrapping in Las Vegas on Oct. 23. Electronic artist Underscores will join Charli on the road.
