Aya Nakamura was honored at the first edition of Billboard France‘s Power Players, held on Sept. 15 at Salle Cortot in Paris. The singer received the Artist-Entrepreneur of the Year award, a distinction that recognizes both her artistic career and the growth of her work as a business owner. The trophy was presented to her by RnBoi, the first artist signed to her company, Nakamura Industrie.
This award comes during a period of transition for the 31-year-old artist. Self-produced since 2025 through Nakamura Industrie, while distributed by Warner Music France, she released Destinée last November, her fifth studio album and the first to come out under her own company. The record is certified platinum in France by the SNEP. Its reissue, Destinée Supremacy, extended the cycle into 2026 with the single “Sexy Nana,” a collaboration with La Rvfleuze, certified diamond in France.
The year 2026 was also marked by three consecutive concerts at the Stade de France on May 29, 30, and 31, drawing more than 200,000 spectators.
Through Nakamura Industrie, the singer is also developing a division dedicated to nurturing new talent. RnBoi, who presented her with the award on stage, is the first artist signed to it. The singer had a remarkable year himself in 2026: His first project, My Eyes Only — Flashback, is certified platinum in France and features three diamond-certified singles, “Avec Moi” (featuring Nono La Grinta), “Elle Voulait” and “Mon Bébé.”
On the stage of Salle Cortot, Nakamura reflected on how far she has come: “When I started in music, I had no idea of the influence of my authenticity. Today, here I am, happy to bring so much hope to certain people who watch us and tell themselves, ‘I can make it too.’”
The Power Players are the French adaptation of a format launched by Billboard, now rolled out across several markets around the world. The ceremony aims to spotlight the most influential figures in France’s music industry. Hosted by Julie Gayet and organized in partnership with AEG Presents France, Amazon Music, AXS, Bpifrance, Bolero and Sacem, this first edition brought together 400 industry professionals and was followed by a cocktail presented by AXS and Moët-Hennessy.

On Sept. 15, Billboard France held its first in-person event, the Power Players ceremony. A French adaptation of the American publication’s flagship format, already present in the United Kingdom, Canada, the Middle East and Latin America, it honors those who shape the French music industry across the full range of professions in the sector: live performance, labels and distribution, music publishing, streaming and tech, management, and collective management organizations.
Supported by AEG Presents France, Amazon Music, AXS, Bpifrance, Bolero, and Sacem, this first edition was held at Salle Cortot, an iconic venue for classical and jazz music located in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
Hosted by Julie Gayet, founder and president of the Sœurs Jumelles festival, the ceremony brought together 400 members of the music industry who came to celebrate their peers. The following day, the complete list of Power Players, the most powerful figures in the French music market, was unveiled.
The Winners of This First Edition
The ceremony was punctuated by the presentation of six awards, some of them handed out by an artist:
The evening was also marked by a tribute to Daniel Colling, Jean-Philippe Allard and Olivier Caillart, three figures of the music industry who recently passed away, performed by pianist Gael Rakotondrabe, first-prize winner of the piano competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2008.
In addition, the recipients of the Billboard France Scholarship, Marie Goubaud-Picard and Smith Jordan Ndento Tchouaffe, were introduced to the audience. Backed by Amazon Music and integrated into the Equal Opportunity program of the All Access Musique association, this initiative provides them with full funding for a year of study, along with privileged mentorship at the heart of the French music ecosystem.
The evening was followed by a cocktail reception held in partnership with AXS and Moët-Hennessy.
With this first edition, Billboard France intends to establish the Power Players over the long term, with the ceremony intended to become an annual meeting point for the French music industry.

Club queens Madonna and Charli xcx have united for “Danceteria Afterhours,” a revamped version of “Danceteria,” a standout track from Madonna’s July album Confessions II.
The original song finds Madonna telling the lore of her early history in New York City along with the history of the city’s famous club Danceteria, where she got her start and spent significant time with fellow party people like Debi Mazar and Basquiat. The new version carries over Madonna’s verses and adds new ones from Charli, who recounts her own club kid history, from being “sweet 15 in a weird outfit” during her first time DJing in London to going to L.A. in 2015 to hang with A.G. Cook and SOPHIE and discovering “different DJs, flavored cocaine.” Listen to the “Danceteria Afterhours” below.
This new version of the song follows the previously released “Afterhours” version of Confessions II‘s “Love Sensation,” featuring Kylie Minogue. Confessions II debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 following its release on July 3. The achievement gave Madonna her first No. 1 album of the 2020s and made her the first act with a No. 1 album in the 2020s to have also topped the chart in three other decades.
Madonna will open the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday (Sept. 27) with her first performance at the show in 23 years. She’s also the leading nominee at this year’s VMAs, with 11 nods. As previously reported by Billboard, 2026 “marks the first time Madonna has been the leading nominee since 1998, the year she won video of the year for the first time with ‘Ray of Light.’”
Even though Sophia Laforteza is temporarily taking a step back from KATSEYE, she’s still giving fans a glimpse of the girl behind the group.
The singer is currently on a hiatus from KATSEYE activities as of August in order to focus on her well-being. Despite stepping away from the spotlight, a different side of Sophia will be arriving on the big screen — and, fittingly, it comes through a song that she considers personal.
Sophia contributes a reimagined version of INXS‘ “Never Tear Us Apart” — a top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hit in 1988 — to DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island, which is now available on the film’s newly released soundtrack. The song — credited to Sophia of KATSEYE — plays during an emotional moment between the movie’s two best friends, which makes the scene shine with themes of connection and loyalty. When presented with the assignment, Sophia didn’t just see it as a regular gig. She saw it as an opportunity to showcase her individuality and pride for her culture.
“When I was told I was going to be a part of this project, I remember thinking, ‘This is the most Sophia thing I could do,’ as one of the first things I do on my own,” she says in a behind-the-scenes clip from the recording session.
Forgotten Island touches on many of the things Sophia holds close, making it almost a no-brainer to participate in the film. The animation explores her Filipino culture, family, friendship, celebrating women and staying connected to where you come from.
“My culture, celebrating women, family, friendship,” Sophia says. “For me, friendship is one of the most beautiful journeys you can go on in life.”
The timing also gives the track an interesting place in Sophia’s KATSEYE journey. After KATSEYE’s explosive rise over the past two years — including a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 with their third EP, WILD, and seven career appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 — Sophia’s soundtrack contribution is a rare opportunity to hear her outside the group’s usual pop framework.
Her absence from KATSEYE’s current endeavors has made this release exciting, since fans haven’t seen Sophia involved in any of the group’s promotional activities since this summer. HYBE x Geffen had announced that Sophia would temporarily step away from the group, stating that she needed dedicated time for extended rest and ongoing care following consultations with medical professionals. She subsequently sat out KATSEYE’s European and U.K. WILDWORLD tour dates, with no telling when she might return.
Forgotten Island, which hits theaters on Friday, follows childhood best friends Jo and Raissa as they journey to the mysterious island of Nakali, where their memories and friendship are put to the test. The soundtrack brings together an impressive lineup of Filipino and Filipino-American talent, including BINI, SB19, Lea Salonga, H.E.R., Ruby Ibarra and Sophia herself.

The KPop Demon Hunters world concert tour will be big, but the accompanying trading cards are tiny.
KAYOU’s new KPop Demon Hunters special mini edition trading cards bring the franchise’s collectible card experience to a smaller format, packing 41 collectibles into roughly half the size of KAYOU’s standard cards. The Netflix-official-licensed set spans five rarity tiers and features HUNTR/X, the Saja Boys, and memorable characters and moments, with premium finishes designed to keep the smaller cards visually striking. Built around the franchise’s world concert tour, the collection also introduces lenticular motion cards, show-inspired designs and fan-interaction artwork.
KAYOU describes the release as its first mini-format collectible card set, although it’s not the first KPop Demon Hunters trading card collection to use the world-tour theme, as an earlier Energy Edition also draws on the concept. With retailers already listing the mini edition as a high-demand product, the release is generating strong interest and may see limited availability.
WORLD TOUR MERCH
In-Demand New Product
Each purchase includes 12 mini cards (four packs per box and three mini cards per pack).
Walmart is carrying the mini trading cards from a partner brand with a 4.6-star rating, helping explain the higher price. GameStop lists the four-pack box at $11.99 for shoppers and $11.39 for Pro members, who pay for an annual subscription. Customers can choose in-store pickup, same-day delivery or shipping to their home, with shipped orders arriving within three business days. Best Buy also carries the release, but its listing requires buyers to collect it from a nearby store instead of delivery. Each box contains four packs with three cards per pack from a possible 41 cards across five rarity tiers.

Collectors have a chance to collect across all five rarity tiers, from character profiles to stage-focused artwork. Super Spark Rare cards spotlight characters in specific situations, while Holo Rare cards use lenticular effects to make poses shift as the viewing angle changes. These cards also include a pre-punched hole so fans can turn them into charms. Legacy Rare cards take cues from anime-inspired illustrations and fan photo-card culture, while Special cards focus on HUNTR/X’s relationship with fans, featuring character names, lively expressions and band logos. Creative Rare cards spotlight performances, emphasizing the characters’ stage presence and the excitement of their shows.
The trading cards are just the latest addition to the ever-expanding merch machine surrounding KPop Demon Hunters. Since the film’s breakout success, its characters and iconography have inspired an increasingly eclectic range of products, from shoes and backpacks to Squishmallows and Mattel dolls, and even heavy-duty plastic swords modeled after Rumi’s iconic weapon. Not to mention the KPop Demon Hunters world tour concert lightsticks for the upcoming tour, which was announced in May and slated for 2027. What began as a hit animated movie has quickly become a full-fledged consumer brand, with the new trading card collection offering yet another way for fans to bring a piece of the KPop Demon Hunters universe home.
Dove Cameron and Damiano David are now married, tying the knot in Italy on Thursday (Sept. 24) after three years together.
According to E!, the couple wed at Palazzo dei Priori in Montalcino in Tuscany. Photos that have surfaced online show the two musicians in complementing white-and-cream ensembles, with Cameron holding a bouquet of lilies and sporting a chic belted blazer and tie, walking the cobbled streets and kissing.
The news comes about eight months after the Descendants star and Måneskin frontman announced their engagement on Instagram. “It’s gonna be a beautiful year,” David wrote at the time.
The prior October, the pair — who first met at the 2022 VMAs, where they were both nominated for best new artist — celebrated their two-year anniversary.
“i am brought to tears at least once a week because life has become so beautiful with you in it,” Cameron said on the occasion, sharing photos of herself and David smooching in a restaurant on Instagram. “i love you in a way no words could ever express, but i will never stop trying. buon anniversario amore mio.”
The Schmigadoon! alum is currently fresh off the release of her new single “When in Rome,” written as an ode to the romance she’s built with David in his home country of Italy. “We should fall in love when in Rome,” she sings on the track. “Why don’t we get married, build a home?”
David last dropped music in 2025, releasing solo album Funny Little Fears.
Shortly prior to their wedding, Cameron and the rocker appeared in Vogue Italia and discussed their quiet life together behind the scenes. “Because of the way the internet works, people only see the big moments,” the “Boyfriend” singer told the publication. “I was just in Malta accepting an award, and of course those photos stay in circulation. But in between that, there were two months when we were just grocery shopping, cooking, and figuring out our new juicer.”
Welcome to Billboard Pro’s Trending Up newsletter, where we take a closer look at the songs, artists, curiosities and trends that have caught the music industry’s attention. Some have come out of nowhere, others have taken months to catch on, and all of them could become ubiquitous in the blink of a TikTok clip.
This week: ADÉLA’s second consecutive hit single just continues to rise, while Malcolm Todd eyes a chart breakthrough from his current album for once, and a mashup becomes a surprise viral sensation.
ADÉLA was already making headlines with the fast-rising success of “Ain’t In LA” and the splashy Billboard 200 No. 4 debut for her new PRIMA LP, but “Nicole Kidman” is shaping up to be something entirely different. An instant breakout hit upon the album’s full release, “Nicole Kidman” is currently the hottest pop song on social media thanks to ADÉLA’s Doja Cat and Ariana Grande-nodding delivery, slick lyrical callbacks to Kidman’s discography, and a splashy, clippable music video.
In the PRIMA’s first week of release (Sept. 4-10), Kidman collected 5.76 million official on-demand U.S. streams, with that number spiking 66% to over 9.59 million streams the following week (Sept. 11-17). “Nicole Kidman” truly came alive over the weekend. During the five-day period of Sept. 11-15, the breezy track earned 6.14 million official streams, jumping 51% to 9.3 million official streams a week later (Sept. 18-22).
On the Sept. 26-dated Billboard Hot 100, “Kidman” flies 45-22, and it’ll likely continue its quick ascent after taking the No. 1 spot on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs USA from Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” on Tuesday (Sept. 22). With over 1.5 million uses on TikTok, 131,000 plays on Instagram Reels, 10 million views for the music video, a viral dance trend and an all-out embrace from the real-life Kidman, ADÉLA’s latest hit is shaping up to be a true monster. — KYLE DENIS
While alt-R&B singer-songwriter Malcolm Todd has unquestionably been one of the streaming breakout stars of 2026, his biggest hits this year mostly have come from his 2024 debut mixtape Sweet Boy — led by the Hot 100 top 20 hit “Earrings” — and not the Do That Again album he actually dropped this June. But one song from the latter set may be on its way to reversing that trend: the increasingly viral “Obsessica.”
The tongue-in-cheek lust song — with the chorus hook “I think I’m a little bit obsessed,” and a climax that features Todd checking over a dozen girls’ names — had already begun to take off on streaming, but has particularly exploded following a particularly effective TikTok post of his. On Sept. 9, the rising phenom shared video of him and actress Inde Navarrette — she of the surprise 2026 horror blockbuster Obsession, natch — alternately lip syncing verse lyrics (“I’m a Virgo/ You’re a Tauraus/ Chart says no, let’s just ignore it”) to the song before playfully embracing.
Fans immediately took to the chemistry and implied title pun between the short video’s two leads, as well as their height disparity (“how f–king tall is this guy” reads the clip’s most-liked comment). The ensuing virality led to the song racking up over 3.3 official on-demand U.S. streams for the tracking week ending Sept. 18, according to Luminate — up 429% from the 600,000 streams it had amassed two weeks prior, before the video’s posting. The song returns to the Bubbling Under Hot 100 at No. 6 this week, and if it continues its trajectory, may join “Earrings” on the proper Hot 100 fairly soon. — ANDREW UNTERBERGER
Earlier this summer (July 23), DJ Zek3 shared a mashup of 2Rare’s “Camden Bop” — which already had a life soundtracking viral dance trends — and Blood Orange’s “Champagne Coast” that quickly made the rounds on TikTok. By July 27, rising rapper Wxoda (who boasts over 1.1 million TikTok followers) shared the first snippet of his song using that same beat, with people immediately gravitating towards the “And I stay with bad b—ches, you know we be vibin’” refrain, as well as the accompanying “Camden Bop”-nodding dance trend. “Vibin” officially hit streaming services on July 31, with its numbers continuing to rise throughout August and September as the song traveled across TikTok, helping its accompanying sound reach over 725,000 clips.
According to Luminate, “Vibin” has exploded over 1,625% in streaming activity over the past four weeks. During the seven-day period of Aug. 14-20, “Vibin” earned 155,000 official on-demand U.S. streams, with that number more than doubling in each of the three following weeks. By the seven-day period of Sept. 4-10, “Vibin” collected 1.67 million official streams, jumping a further 60% to over 2.68 million official streams earned the following week (Sept. 11-17).
With the official audio clip earning over three million views on YouTube in just one month and the song playing in over 74,000 Instagram Reels, the jury is out on just how far Wxoda can ride social media’s obsession with “Vibin.” — KYLE DENIS
