Dave Mustaine mostró físicamente a los fans la razón por la que Megadeth se separa, durante un evento de presentación de sus memorias recién publicadas, In My Darkest Hour, celebrado en Nueva York a principios de este mes. Cuando el moderador, el redactor sénior de Rolling Stone Kory Grow, le preguntó si los seguidores debían creerle cuando afirmaba que su banda iba a disolverse, Mustaine alzó la mano izquierda para que el público la viera.
“Tengo una lesión en la mano”, dijo, mostrándosela a las cerca de 200 personas presentes en el Kaufman Music Center de Nueva York. “Algunos de ustedes pueden verla. Padezco lo que se llama contractura de Dupuytren. En el centro de la mano, los tendones se han adherido entre sí y están tirando de mi dedo hacia abajo. Así que tengo la opción de operarme en algún momento; pensé en hacer esta gira y promocionar el disco, y llegado ese punto, veremos cómo está la tecnología… Me planteo: “¿Podría seguir adelante si solo me dedicara a cantar?”. No querría hacer eso. Querría tocar la guitarra, porque es lo que amo”.
En agosto de 2025, Mustaine anunció que la veterana banda de thrash se retiraría en algún momento tras el lanzamiento de Megadeth. “Si alguna vez hubo un momento perfecto para hacer una gira mundial, es ahora”, aclaró. “También es el momento ideal para decirles que este es nuestro último álbum de estudio”. Cuando el disco salió a la venta en enero, debutó en el número uno de la lista Billboard 200. Durante la presentación del libro, cuando Grow le preguntó cómo se sentía respecto a ese logro, Mustaine se colocó el micrófono a la altura de la entrepierna y lo inclinó hacia arriba mientras hacía el sonido “boiiiing”, para diversión del público. “Es una sensación fantástica”, comentó. Mustaine comentó que, hasta ahora, la última gira de Megadeth ha tenido un sabor agridulce. “Hay momentos en los que subimos por la escalera trasera y, mientras camino hacia arriba… me digo: “Es tu escenario”, así que subo y hago mi trabajo”, señaló. Durante la conversación, Mustaine insinuó que las grabaciones de la gira podrían servir de base para un futuro álbum en vivo. “Si quisiéramos, por ejemplo, contar con grabaciones en directo de nuestras interpretaciones para el futuro, sería buena idea registrar varios temas distintos”, dijo Mustaine. “Pero sí, nos divertiremos haciéndolo, independientemente de lo que finalmente decidamos hacer”.
Mustaine también comentó que es posible que Megadeth publique más grabaciones de estudio en el futuro. “Hay fragmentos y cosas por el estilo”, dijo. “Hay un par de canciones terminadas de la época del último álbum con James [LoMenzo, bajo], Teemu [Mäntysaari, guitarra] y Dirk [Verbeuren, batería] que aún no hemos publicado. Pero creo que están destinadas a ser temas extra para el sello discográfico o algo así… Podría haber alguna canción o algo parecido, pero no lo sé”.
También reveló que otro libro que había escrito, en el que detallaba las historias detrás de cada una de sus canciones, se perdió en medio del caos de una discográfica que cerró sus puertas. “Ese libro se escribió y se entregó a Sanctuary Records hace muchísimos años, y Sanctuary quebró”, dijo Mustaine. “Se titulaba Score y abarcaba los primeros 20 años de canciones de Megadeth. Me devolvieron el libro y no sé qué fue de él… Simplemente no sé si quiero escribir otro libro ahora mismo”.
Al preguntársele cómo sería el “plan de jubilación de Dave Mustaine”, este respondió que le gustaría seguir vinculado a la música de alguna manera: “ya sea algo tan sencillo como escucharla o crearla”, dijo. Mustaine añadió que esperaba que surgieran avances tecnológicos que ayudaran a sanar su mano.
En otro momento de la conversación, que duró una hora, Mustaine habló sobre su diagnóstico de cáncer de lengua, cómo lo afrontó y qué aprendió de esa batalla; todo ello constituye la base de su libro In My Darkest Hour. Explicó desde su estado mental al enterarse de que tenía “el gran cáncer” —tal como se lo comunicó bruscamente un médico— hasta cómo la disciplina adquirida mediante las artes marciales le ayudó a superar la situación, así como su actitud actual en general. “Levantarse por la mañana es una elección que todos hacemos, al igual que decidir qué vamos a hacer con ese día”, afirmó. “Sobre todo cuando sabes cuántos días te quedan. Es importante aprovechar esos días con sabiduría. Yo intento vivir cada día como si fuera el último, porque no sé cuándo llegará ese momento, y quiero asegurarme de que sea un buen día para quienes me rodean: mi familia y mis amigos”.
Cuando le preguntaron qué le daba esperanzas, simplemente describió su mentalidad. “Sé que solo tengo que seguir viviendo”, dijo. “He estado viviendo, tratando de hacer siempre lo correcto porque es lo que se debe hacer. Espero con ilusión lo que me depare el futuro: las giras, tocar, la música nueva —si es que la hay— y los momentos que compartimos haciendo cosas como esta… Simplemente nos gusta hacer cosas geniales. No quiero ser de esas personas que se meten en una cueva y mueren. Quiero vivir con intensidad y tocar con intensidad”.

La ceremonia de los MTV Video Music Awards ha llegado. Los grandes nombres de la música se reunieron en los VMAs para saber quién se llevaría los premios más codiciados.
Madonna lideró las nominaciones con 13 candidaturas, gracias al cortometraje que realizó para celebrar su nuevo álbum, Confessions II. Además de estar entre los posibles ganadores de Video del Año, fue nominado en varias categorías como Mejor Dirección, Cinematografía y Coreografía. También recibió una nominación para Mejor Dance, galardón que se otorgó durante décadas a partir de 1989, pero que no se había entregado desde 2019.
‘Bring Your Love’, canción de Madonna y Sabrina Carpenter incluida en Confessions II, obtuvo nominaciones a Canción del Año y Mejor Colaboración. Madonna también compitió por el premio a Artista del Año.
Taylor Swift le pisó los talones con 11 nominaciones. También está en la lista para Artista del Año. Madonna se llevó el Moon Person para Artista del año en los MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) 2026. Otros nominados al galardón fueron Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars, Morgan Wallen, Sabrina Carpenter y Taylor Swift. Más tarde, ganó el reconocimiento a Mejor Dance con Confessions II – The Film.
Durante los primeros VMAs de 1984, la cantante bromeó, “Primero, quisiera agradecer a mis dedos porque siempre puedo contar con ellos”. Luego, narró una anécdota de sus comienzos musicales, “Tuve un problemita con mis zapatos… y me abalancé al escenario para intentar mostrarme como linda y sexy, lo hice a propósito. Fui tras bambalinas, orgullosa de mí misma, y mi mánager me dijo que mi carrera había terminado”.
Continuó la historia en su discurso para Artista del Año: “Duré el último año y medio encontrándome, creyendo en mí misma y haciendo la música que quería hacer… Mi esperanza para los que están aquí esta noche es que pasen el siguiente año o los próximos 10 del resto de sus vidas haciendo lo mismo”. Agradeció a su confidente de años y productor Stuart Price, dijo que era su compañero incondicional, “¿Quién hubiera dicho que, 20 años después de Confessions [on a Dancefloor], lo haríamos de nuevo [con Confessions II]?”.
Fue una noche llena de triunfos para la reina del pop. Esa misma noche subió al escenario para recibir el premio al Mejor Dance, galardón que se otorgó durante décadas a partir de 1989, pero que no se había entregado desde 2019. Tras haber hecho un chiste inapropiado sobre llevar un láser en una parte de su cuerpo que falló en capturar el humor de la audiencia, invitó a los presentadores, Charli XCX y Troye Sivan, a acompañarla mientras pronunciaba su discurso. Reanudó, “Quiero dar las gracias a Torso [el director de Confessions II – The Film] por emprender esta aventura conmigo. Vine a Nueva York para ser bailarina, y en la danza fue donde sucedió mi vida”.
“Cobré vida en la pista de baile, me enamoré de la gente en la pista de baile y perdí a muchas personas que amaba en la pista de baile. El baile une a todos. En la pista de baile, todos somos iguales”.
Esta distinción le ayudó a consolidar un año destacado en los VMAs. La vocalista lideró la lista de nominados con 13 candidaturas. Si bien la mayoría correspondían al cortometraje realizado para su aclamado nuevo álbum, Confessions II, ‘Bring Your Love’ su canción que realizó en colaboración con Sabrina Carpenter, ganó el premio a la Mejor Colaboración.
Abrió la gala con una presentación masiva de ‘Bring Your Love’ y ‘Danceteria’ con el apoyo de Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, Sombr, Julia Garner, Debi Mazar, Seth Rogen, Andrew Watt y Fab Five Freddy.

Nicole Scherzinger is not one to let a preshow accident affect her performance. Even if that accident causes serious burns on her body just before showtime. On Sunday (Sept. 27), the singer posted pics of the burns and blisters on one of her legs she said she suffered after boiling water was spilled on her just moments before the Pussycat Dolls were slated to take the stage at PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany, on Saturday (Sept. 26).
According to People, in a since-expired Instagram Story, Scherzinger, 48, shared the image of her leg with burn marks and blisters along with the caption, “Nothing like boiling water falling on your leg an hour before your set — but the show must go on. Thanks Düsseldorf for keeping me going. See you soon Amsterdam.”
Tony-winner Scherzinger is currently on the PCD Forever reunion world tour with the group, which returned as a trio earlier this year with the single “Club Song.” Along with Scherzinger, the PSD lineup on the road includes Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Roberts, with former members Carmit Bachar, Jessica Sutta and Melody Thornton not part of this revival.
Back in May, the group canceled all but one of their planned North American PCD Forever tour dates, pulling all their arena and amphitheater stops except for an appearance at the WeHo Festival in Los Angeles on June 6, in what the group called a “difficult and heartbreaking decision.” At the time, the group gave no official reason for the cancellation of the dates. The PCD Forever tour, the group’s first outing since they broke up in 2010, was slated to kick off in Palm Desert, Calif. on June 5.
Founding members Scherzinger, Wyatt and Roberts revived PCD earlier this year following a brief reunion as a quintet in 2019. The Dolls launched in 2005 behind the group’s PCD debut album, which featured the top 5 Billboard Hot 100 anthems “Don’t Cha” (No. 2 peak) feat. Busta Rhymes and the Snoop Dogg-assisted “Buttons” (No. 3 peak).
The next scheduled date on the tour is on Tuesday (Sept. 29) at Utilita Arena in Birmingham, U.K.
Lana Del Rey is marking two years of marriage to Jeremy Dufrene with a look back at their wedding day.
The singer shared a series of previously unseen photos and videos from the couple’s September 2024 wedding in Louisiana, including footage of the pair exchanging a kiss during the ceremony and images of Del Rey in her wedding dress alongside Dufrene.
“Hi husband, happy second anniversary… Thank you for making everywhere I’ve ever lived feel like home again,” Del Rey wrote in the caption. “And also to our little family … literally everything we do is the best. Xo.”
The carousel also included more casual moments from their life together, including clips of the pair driving, Dufrene fixing a chandelier and a close-up of Del Rey’s engagement ring.
Dufrene also celebrated the anniversary on social media, writing, “Happy Anniversary to the most Beautiful and Precious lil wife. I love you so much.” His post included additional images from the couple’s wedding and life together.
Del Rey and Dufrene, a Louisiana alligator tour guide, first met in 2019, though the pair did not confirm their relationship until August 2024, when they appeared together at the Reading and Leeds festivals. They married the following month.
Their relationship has also found its way into Del Rey’s music. Earlier this year, she released “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter,” a song co-written with Dufrene and produced by Jack Antonoff. The track is expected to appear on her forthcoming album Stove.
Del Rey, 41, remains one of the most influential artists of her generation. Her 2012 breakthrough Born to Die peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and in 2025 became the longest-charting album by a female artist in the chart’s history, powered by the multi-platinum “Summertime Sadness” and “Video Games.” She has since scored two No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 with Lust for Life (2017) and, earlier in her career, Ultraviolence (2014), and earned wide acclaim for 2019’s Norman F—ing Rockwell! She is currently working toward a new album.
Shakira is currently in the midst of her European residency in Madrid, a series of concerts that began on Sept. 18 at the Iberdrola Music venue and is set to conclude on Oct. 11. Now, fans from around the world will be able to join the celebration from home. On Monday (Sept. 28) the Colombian superstar and Amazon Music announced an upcoming livestream of one of Shakira’s Madrid shows.

Titled “Amazon Music Presents Shakira Live From Madrid,” the concert on Saturday, Oct. 3, will be livestreamed starting at 2:45 p.m. ET/11:45 a.m. PT in the United States, 12:45 p.m. in Mexico City ,3:45 p.m. in Brazil and 8:45 p.m. CEST in Spain. The livestream will be available via the Amazon Music app and Prime Video, plus the Amazon Music app on Fire TV and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch, with no subscription required.
“Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour has become so much more than I could have ever imagined, and I am so proud of it,” Shakira said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to know I can take it even further by sharing this special night with fans around the world, alongside Amazon Music.”
The livestream will be one of the highlights of “Las Mujeres Que Impulsan la Música Latina” (Women Who Drive Latin Music), the 2026 edition of La Música Nos Conecta (Music Connects Us), Amazon Music’s annual celebration of the artists, sounds and cultural movements shaping Latin music. This year’s event is dedicated to recognizing the women who have paved the way in Latin music and the new generations who continue to transform it.
Shakira’s residency marks the singer-songwriter’s return to Spanish stages after eight years and focuses on the conclusion of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour in Madrid. The 12 concerts are part of ES LATINA, a program that brings together Latin music, cuisine, art and culture within Macondo Park, a temporary space created specifically for the occasion that also houses the Shakira Stadium.
The partnership with Amazon Music also includes Shakira’s work with her Pies Descalzos Foundation, which, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Laboratoria, will offer free training in AI and cloud computing. The initiative, which will begin in Colombia, aims to reach one million women across Latin America by 2028.
The collaboration also includes a new remix of “Dai Dai” produced by RVSSIAN, a special vinyl edition of Laundry Service in honor of the album’s 25th anniversary, as well as El Mixtape, a playlist curated by Shakira featuring music from artists who have influenced her career.
It was a big night for Madonna and Taylor Swift at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, where both superstars came into the night as the year’s top nominees — and they were also the evening’s biggest winners.
Madonna not only opened the show with a medley of songs from her Confessions II album (joined by Sabrina Carpenter and Charli xcx), she also walked away with seven trophies, including three wins onstage (artist of the year, best dance and best collaboration). As for Swift, she won a trio of Moon Persons: the first-ever Artist Director Honors, video of the year (both presented onstage) and best direction.
Inside the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, there were moments viewers at home never saw — including an encounter between Madonna and Swift (more on that in a second). The venue felt at once intimate and immense, its expansive stage anchored by a towering Moon Person. Early arrivals watched the production crew make last-minute preparations and deliver instructions to the enthusiastic fans recruited to surround the stage.
Once the show got underway, the mixture of veteran acts (Madonna, host Snoop Dogg) and newer faces (LISA, Sienna Spiro) kept the audience engaged. Seemingly the biggest in-venue response went to the Michael tribute, where the audience was on its feet the entire time — no doubt thanks to the fact that Michael’s sterling catalog of hits was well-known by the crowd.
Here’s a rundown of some of the moments viewers did not see at home on TV during the MTV Video Music Awards.
Todd Rundgren has called Taylor Swift the “apotheosis of mediocrity” and suggested she “ruined music” in a new interview.
Speaking to Vulture, the veteran producer was asked which current artist he would spoof if he made a parody album, a nod to his work on Meat Loaf’s 1977 album Bat Out of Hell, which he has said he intended partly as a Bruce Springsteen send-up.
“Taylor Swift, of course. There’s an argument to be made that she ruined music,” he said. “It’s just that, to me, Taylor Swift is the apotheosis of mediocrity.”
He went further later in the interview. “Taylor Swift doesn’t do anything particularly great except grow hair,” he said. “She’s not a great singer. She’s not a great songwriter. She’s not a great dancer.”
Rundgren praised Lady Gaga as a “real musician” and “classically trained piano player,” and floated a theory that female pop stars rose to dominance after young men shifted their spending to video games in the 1990s. It isn’t the first time he’s criticized Swift — he made similar comments on Rick Rubin’s Broken Record podcast in 2022.
Swift hasn’t responded. When The Life of a Showgirl drew mixed reactions on its release last year, she addressed the criticism on Apple Music’s The Zane Lowe Show.
“I have a lot of respect for people’s subjective opinions on art. I’m not the art police,” she said. “Everybody is allowed to feel exactly how they want.”
The comments arrive days after Swift released The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, an expanded edition of her 2025 album featuring four new tracks, including “Patient Zero.” Swift premiered the song’s music video during Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards 2026.
The deluxe version of Swift’s 12th studio album, out now, also features the newly recorded song “Babylon,” “Pink Clouding” and “Cleveland!” The original album spent 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and opened with a record-breaking 4.002 million equivalent album units in the United States in its first week.
Drake made a surprise appearance at Karol G‘s concert in Houston on Sunday (Sept. 27), joining the Colombian superstar onstage for a performance of his 2016 hit “One Dance.“
In fan-shot clips from the show, both artists appeared dressed in black, with Drake taking the mic on “One Dance” as Karol G danced beside him before the two moved in close, drawing roars from the crowd.
The appearance was the latest in a series of moments between the two stars. Drake attended Karol G’s Toronto show in July, appearing on the venue’s Jumbotron, and had publicly nodded to her on record before their team-up, name-checking her on “New Bestie” from his 2026 project Maid of Honour. The pair then released “Ahí” in August, and the single made an immediate mark on Billboard’s Latin charts. It debuted at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs — Drake’s fourth leader on the tally — and gave him his first career No. 1 on Hot Latin Rhythm Songs, a chart he had never previously topped.
Released in 2016, “One Dance” was a career milestone for Drake. Featuring Nigerian star Wizkid and British singer Kyla, it became his first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 as a lead artist, spent 10 weeks atop the chart and reigned for years as the most-streamed song in Spotify history. It has since become a staple of his unannounced guest spots, including a surprise set at Vybz Kartel’s Toronto concert last year, where he also performed it.
For Karol G, the moment adds to a genre-reshaping run. The Medellín-born star became the first Latina to headline Coachella earlier this year, and her 2023 album Mañana Será Bonito made history as the first all-Spanish-language album by a woman to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Her 2025 album Tropicoqueta debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, and she announced her latest album, No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto, in July, extending a run that has established her as the most commercially dominant woman in Latin music.
