A striking cover of a Black Sabbath classic won over Adam Levine on the latest episode of The Voice.
During Monday’s (Oct. 5) Season 30 Blind Auditions, 25-year-old Dakota Cohen performed “Changes” — the melancholy piano ballad originally released on Black Sabbath’s 1972 album Vol. 4 and later sung by frontman Ozzy Osbourne. It took most of the song, but Levine and fellow coach Riley Green both turned their chairs by the end, with Queen Latifah calling the performance “astounding” and “insane” and Green praising it as the “perfect song choice.”
Levine, who noted he had pressed his button first, made an aggressive pitch. “The song choice for me says so much,” he said. “That’s instantly something out of the gate; before I even heard you sing a note, I want you on my team.”
He compared Cohen’s voice to Miley Cyrus and told her, “I just love what you’re out here doing, and I do believe this is your home.” Cohen ultimately chose Team Adam — a decision helped along, she revealed, by a chance encounter years earlier, when Levine gave her a thumbs-up after hearing her sing Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning” at a restaurant.
The audition landed with added weight given the song’s history. Originally sung by Ozzy Osbourne on Black Sabbath’s 1972 album Vol. 4, “Changes” found new life in 2003 when Osbourne re-recorded it as a duet with his daughter Kelly Osbourne, topping the U.K. singles chart.
Osbourne died in July 2025 at age 76, weeks after Black Sabbath’s farewell concert; in the wake of his death, “Changes” debuted at No. 42 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, making a primetime cover of one of his most tender vocals newly poignant.
The Voice is currently in its milestone 30th season, with Clarkson, Levine, Queen Latifah and Riley Green serving as coaches. The show airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, streaming next day on Peacock.
Comedians Melanie Bracewell and Tim McDonald will host the 2026 ARIA Awards, Australia’s biggest night in music, organizers have announced.
The pair — co-hosts of Network 10’s The Cheap Seats — will lead the milestone 40th annual ceremony at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday, Nov. 18. The duo have fronted the comedy panel show together since 2021, winning the Logie Award for most outstanding entertainment program in 2023, and organizers called them a “natural fit” to helm the anniversary edition.
Both leaned into the comedic register in accepting the gig. “Thrilled to host the ARIAs with my friend and colleague Tim McDonald,” Bracewell said. “Hoping they didn’t book us for experience. The last awards ceremony I hosted was a raffle for a meat tray.”
McDonald added: “Australian music is the best in the world, so we are so excited and honoured to be hosting! I can’t wait to celebrate this music milestone — 40 years of the ARIA Awards, and 24 years since I failed the recorder in grade three.” Triple j presenter and DJ Latifa Tee will also join the hosting team before moving to red-carpet duties alongside Network 10’s Georgie Tunny and Angela Bishop.
The announcement follows the reveal of this year’s nominations, led by Genesis Owusu and Tame Impala with eight nods apiece. The two will go head-to-head in several of the night’s biggest categories, including Album of the Year and Best Solo Artist, as well as Best Alternative Release — a category returning to the ARIAs for the first time since 2016. Ecca Vandal follows with seven nominations, while Baker Boy, BOY SODA, G Flip, Miss Kaninna and Ninajirachi each earned five, and Troye Sivan, DMA’S and Dom Dolla are up for four each.
Winners will be crowned across 29 categories on the night, with the public voting for Best Australian Live Act, Song of the Year, Best Video and Most Popular International Artist. The ceremony also caps a year in which ARIA marked its 40th anniversary with a standalone Hall of Fame event in June, inducting Gurrumul, Jenny Morris, Kate Ceberano, Spiderbait, The Living End, and Vika & Linda.
The 2026 ARIA Awards will stream live on Paramount+ from 5 p.m. AEDT on Nov. 18 before airing on Network 10, with red-carpet coverage hosted by Bishop, Tunny and Tee.
Jimmy Barnes will headline the 2027 Red Hot Summer Tour, leading an all-Australian lineup across eight outdoor shows early next year.
The run brings together Barnes with Jon Stevens, who performs his Noiseworks & INXS Collection, alongside Birds of Tokyo, Eskimo Joe, Baby Animals, Chocolate Starfish and Sarah McLeod — the latter appearing in a new rock duo with drummer Mick Skelton. The tour opens Jan. 9 with a Sounds By The River show at Mannum Golf Club in South Australia before rolling through Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania, wrapping March 6 at Gateway Lakes in Wodonga.
Barnes remains one of the most successful artists in Australian music history, with 22 No. 1 albums on the ARIA chart — more than any other local act — across a career spanning more than four decades as a solo performer and as the frontman of Cold Chisel. He is a two-time ARIA Hall of Fame inductee, honored both with Cold Chisel and as a solo artist. He returned to No. 1 in June 2025 with his 21st solo studio album Defiant, and recently marked the 40th anniversary of his landmark 1985 album For the Working Class Man.
Several acts on the bill are marking milestones of their own. Baby Animals — led by Suze DeMarchi and Dave Leslie — celebrate 35 years since their eight-times-platinum self-titled debut, home to “Rush You” and “Early Warning,” while Eskimo Joe approach three decades together. Stevens’ set draws on hits from both Noiseworks and INXS, including “Take Me Back,” “Touch,” “New Sensation” and “Never Tear Us Apart.”
Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 9 at 12 p.m. local time, following Telstra and promoter presales earlier in the week.

Stefani’s birthday festivities also included some pretty sentimental gifts, including a sparkly one from her husband. Over the weekend, Stefani shared a look at a necklace gifted to her by Shelton, featuring the number “11” — a meaningful number for the couple, who have been together for 11 years.
The pair’s love story began on the set of The Voice, where Shelton and Stefani first crossed paths as coaches in 2014. They began dating the following year and eventually exchanged vows in July 2021.
The couple have also continued to celebrate their relationship publicly over the years. In July, Shelton commemorated their wedding anniversary by sharing a collection of photos from their nuptials, writing, “5 years and every day is better than the last.” Stefani similarly marked the occasion with wedding footage and a message calling Shelton “my forever.”

Hayley Williams isn’t backing down on her beliefs.
The Paramore frontwoman had a simple message for the Department of Homeland Security after she shouted “F–k ICE” and “Free Palestine” during her recent concert in Chula Vista, California. DHS responded to the singer’s remarks through a statement to Fox News, saying that Americans should be grateful for federal law enforcement officers and suggesting that the singer “thank them for their service, not belittle their sacrifice.”
Williams shared the department’s statement to her Instagram Story on Monday (Oct. 5), adding her own decidedly less diplomatic response. “And may I suggest all Nazi bi—es suck on my fat di–,” Williams wrote.

The singer’s onstage comments came during a performance of “Ice in My OJ,” a track from her 2025 solo album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. Williams has incorporated political commentary into her current live show, including a statement before performing “True Believer” in which she declares that “the greatest threat to American democracy is Christian nationalism.”
As the longtime frontwoman of Paramore, Williams has helped lead the band to major chart success, including a pair of No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200: 2013’s Paramore and 2023’s This Is Why.

This time, he was captured on video arguing with staff at a Paris casino. In a video sent to TMZ, the Atlanta rapper can be seen telling pit bosses that he feels like he’s being treated unfairly and shouldn’t be because of the money that he’s spending. According to ‘Set, casino staff was allowing randoms to take spots at tables the rapper reserved with a “disposable card.”

Sony Music has requested the removal of more than 260,000 AI deepfake tracks from digital platforms, Billboard has confirmed. That’s nearly double the number reported in March, when Sony revealed it had sent a total of 135,000 takedown requests to date. Now, the major music company says the deepfake issue “harms artists, misleads fans and undermines the ethical use of AI.” The news was first reported by the Financial Times.

A Sony Music spokesperson tells Billboard that the generative AI deepfake tracks it issued takedown notices for “imitate our artists’ voices and likenesses without permission.” They continued: “It’s almost double what we saw earlier this year. It’s happening at scale, and harms artists, misleads fans and undermines the ethical use of AI. Every fraudulent stream takes money away from the artists and songwriters whose music is being listened to. We will keep enforcing our artists’ rights and expect platforms to act quickly and to prevent the same content from reappearing, but it’s becoming an uphill struggle. We’re working with partners across the industry to detect and stop it.”
Today, there is no federal law in the United States to prevent or stop an artist’s name, image, likeness and/or voice from being used in an AI deepfake or other soundalike. Instead, there is an uneven patchwork of protection at the state level that varies slightly depending on where the deepfakes originate from. To fill in these gaps, Billboard reported in 2023 that the majors and streaming services were working together to create a notice-and-takedown procedure that would allow trusted labels to get deepfakes of their artists removed. Though it’s a voluntary stopgap, since it was enacted, that measure has helped companies like Sony keep the growing number of deepfakes at bay.
Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, the music industry has been pushing for new nationwide protection with the NO FAKES Act, which would give individuals the right to authorize the use of their voices and likenesses in AI deepfakes for the first time. The bill also contains carveouts for news, parody, documentary and sports, among other exclusions.
NO FAKES was first introduced as a draft bill in 2023, and formally introduced for the first time in 2024. Since then, the music biz has relentlessly worked to get it passed. Last week, the bill was brought to the Senate floor and received nearly unanimous support apart from Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), who blocked it while citing concerns about the use of a person’s image in satire or political commentary.
According to French streaming service Deezer, more than 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks are uploaded to its site every day. While only a fraction of those uploads qualify as AI deepfakes, the problem of artistic impersonation is a growing one, and labels are picking up the job of policing them.
