Britney Spears is effectively retired from pop music, but next month, her fans will get to hear a previously unreleased track that is likely to spark serious early 2000s nostalgia. On Friday (Oct. 9), the 44-year-old singer dropped “She’ll Never Be Me,” a classic-era Britney pop banger that was originally recorded for her self-titled third LP, 2001’s Britney.

Spears co-wrote the song with her then-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, as well as Bradley Daymond (*NSYNC) and Alex Greggs (*NSYNC, Paris Hilton) and it was co-produced by Riprock ‘n’ Alex G.

“You know I’m one of a kind/ Boy, what’s this I see/ Your girl, she looks just like me/ Blond hair and dressed to a T/ You tell me how can this be/ Does she know I was the one/ Who used to turn you on,” Spears sings in her signature nasally, girlish voice over a burping keyboards and a robotic, drum machine beat.

The song is among a bevy of previously unreleased tracks slated to appear on the upcoming 25th anniversary edition of Britney, due out on Nov. 6. In addition to such beloved hits as “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Overprotected,” “Lonely” and “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman,” the 25-song expanded version will feature the “I’m a Slave 4 U” B-side “Intimidated,” as well as “Right Now (Taste the Victory),” from the singer’s 2002 Pepsi commercial, and the previously unreleased songs “Am I a Sinner,” “When I Say So” and “My Big Secret,” produced by the Neptunes, according to the singer’s posted tracklist.

“You know I’m one of a kind/ There’ll never be another me/ Can’t get me out of your mind/ You’re lost in your own fantasy/ And when you look in my eyes/ Is it hard for you to realize/ She’ll never be me,” Spears sings on the kiss-off chorus of the song in which she slams an ex for replacing her with an exact replica.

Britney signaled a more grown-up direction for the then-19-year-old singer, following on the heels of her breakout LPs …Baby One More Time and Oops!… I Did It Again. The album also featured another Timberlake collaboration, the JT co-written/co-produced “What It’s Like to Be Me,” which closed out the original set. Spears and Timberlake began dating in 1999 and broke up in March 2002. After their split, Timberlake released the revenge tune “Cry Me a River,” whose video featured a Spears look-alike to go with lyrics about a man who refuses to take back his ex after discovering that she’s been unfaithful.

Spears has not yet posted about the song on her socials, though her Facebook account teased on Sept. 30 that “more surprises are coming every week” until the refreshed album’s November release.

The JT co-write is the first “new” music from Spears since she teamed up with will.i.am on 2023’s “Mind Your Business” and Elton John on “Hold Me Closer” in 2022.

In January of this year, Spears — who hasn’t released an album of new material since 2016’s Glory — vowed that she would “never perform in the U.S. again,” more than seven years after wrapping her global Piece of Me tour. Her most recent live performance was on Oct. 21, 2018 in Austin, Texas and the singer adamantly stated in 2024 that she will “never return to the music industry.”

Nickelback will wrap their 2027 world tour in Australia, with seven shows from Oct. 2 to Oct. 16 in support of its 11th studio album, Everything Under the Sun, due Oct. 30 via Virgin Music Group. England’s Don Broco joins as direct support.

The run opens Saturday, Oct. 2 at Perth’s RAC Arena and moves through Adelaide, Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena and Brisbane Entertainment Centre. It also takes in Sydney’s Afterpay Arena and two estate venues: Geelong’s Mount Duneed Estate (Oct. 9) and Pokolbin’s Roche Estate in the Hunter Valley (Oct. 16, closing night). General tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. local time, with presales earlier that week.

The dates are Nickelback’s first Australian shows since its Feed the Machine tour in early 2019. The band skipped the country on its 2022 Get Rollin’ run. The Australian leg follows a North American run opening Feb. 6 in Pittsburgh and a U.K. and European leg from May 22 to July 13.

Everything Under the Sun is the band’s first album since leaving BMG, following 2022’s Get Rollin’. Lead single “Rattle the Cage,” featuring guitarist John 5, is currently No. 1 at active rock radio in the U.S., according to the tour announcement. “Leave Me Behind” and “Make Me Love You” have also been released.

Nickelback’s chart record is proof the rockers can still fill arenas. “How You Remind Me” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was the Hot 100’s year-end No. 1 single of 2002. Billboard named the band its top rock group of the 2000s. The 2005 album All the Right Reasons produced three Hot 100 top 10 singles, including “Photograph,” “Far Away” and “Rockstar,” and has been certified diamond in the U.S. Don Broco, for its part, took a No. 1 U.K. album in 2021 with Amazing Things.

Nickelback’s 2027 Australian tour dates with Don Broco:

Saturday, Oct. 2 — RAC Arena, Perth
Tuesday, Oct. 5 — Adelaide Entertainment Centre Arena, Adelaide
Thursday, Oct. 7 — Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
Saturday, Oct. 9 — Mount Duneed Estate, Geelong
Tuesday, Oct. 12 — Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Brisbane
Thursday, Oct. 14 — Afterpay Arena, Sydney
Saturday, Oct. 16 — Roche Estate, Pokolbin

Kelly Clarkson’s dispute with a Brooklyn store has escalated, with the singer now accusing the shop of lying after it pushed back on her account of a Pretty Woman-style snub.

Clarkson initially called out the specialty store Art of Play over the weekend in a post shared to X, saying staff had treated her as though she couldn’t afford its merchandise and comparing the experience to the 1990 Julia Roberts film.

The store responded on Sunday (Oct. 11) via Instagram, saying the item Clarkson had asked about — “Molly,” a singing-and-dancing bird automaton used in its magic shows — “is permanently attached to the wall and isn’t for sale.”

Clarkson wasn’t buying it. In a new Instagram Stories post, the 44-year-old disputed the explanation and shared a grainy photo she said showed the bird on display beside a $15,000 price tag. “So you’re not only rude, you’re also a liar. Got it,” she wrote, recounting what she said was a condescending exchange in which an employee quoted the price before offering to find “something comparable.”

She also rejected any suggestion she was punching down at a small business, noting she had been shopping at one when the alleged slight occurred. “You don’t get a free pass to treat people less than in your store just because you are a small business,” she wrote. “It’s not that hard to be kind.” She closed with a parting shot: “Your store is really cool. Unfortunately, you aren’t.”

In its Sunday statement, Art of Play had struck a more conciliatory tone, allowing that the “negative experience Kelly described … would resonate with anyone who has ever felt judged in a shop” and emphasizing that all visitors are “equally welcome.”

The shop also said it had been overwhelmed by the response to Clarkson’s post, writing that it was “suddenly attacked by 8 million people who have never visited our store,” and signed off with a nod to the singer’s own catalog: “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” — a line from her 2012 hit “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).”

The exchange comes during a transitional stretch for Clarkson. In August, she aired the series finale of her Daytime Emmy-winning program The Kelly Clarkson Show after seven seasons, saying she wanted to “prioritize my kids.” She has since returned to NBC’s The Voice for its 30th season alongside Adam Levine, Queen Latifah and Riley Green. One of the most successful artists to emerge from reality television — she won the first season of American Idol in 2002 — Clarkson has topped the Billboard Hot 100 with “A Moment Like This” and “My Life Would Suck Without You” and launched eight consecutive top-five albums on the Billboard 200, most recently 2023’s Chemistry, which debuted at No. 6.

Mike Love, the sole remaining original member of The Beach Boys still touring under the group’s name, is “facing serious health challenges,” John Stamos wrote in an update to fans on Sunday (Oct. 11).

Stamos, who sometimes performs with The Beach Boys, posted a candid note on Instagram en route to Sunday night’s concert at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Stamos said he was “struggling to put my feelings into words.”

He made the post following Saturday’s (Oct. 10) concert in Cincinnati, marking the group’s return after the Beach Boys hit pause on a summer tour in July to allow Love time to “recharge.” The announcement affected six weeks’ worth of tour dates, totaling nearly 30 shows.

Footage from the Cincinnati show on social media showed Stamos introducing Love and helping a feeble Love walk out and sit in a chair, where Love remained through the evening, occasionally joining in on songs. Other band members took turns singing lead on tunes usually handled by Love, according to Rolling Stone.

“My beloved friend, father figure, musical hero and mentor, Mike Love, is facing serious health challenges,” said Stamos, who did not give specific details about Love’s health condition. “We hope he’ll be doing what he loves for years to come, but we don’t know what the future holds. We have tonight.”

His message continued: “Mike is a fighter. Despite doctors, family and friends urging him to focus on his health, he insists on being on stage. He says he needs his band, the audience, his friends and drummer surrounding him to lift him up.”

“I’ve played with Mike for 41 years,” said Stamos. “I never imagined how deeply it would affect me to see someone larger than life face something so human and fragile. The Mike Love we see tonight may not be exactly the Mike we’ve always known. But he’s still every bit the Mike we love.”

Stamos said he hoped to be “completely present” onstage with Love at Sunday night’s concert, to “feel that first chord hit and watch age, illness and time disappear.”

The Beach Boys have a limited slate of dates scheduled currently, including a Nov. 11 performance at Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park near Orlando, Fla., and a Nov. 13 concert at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Bristol, Va. Looking ahead to 2027, the band has a May 8 show on the calendar at River Cree Resort and Casino in Enoch, Alberta, Canada.

Al Jardine, the only other living member of the classic-era Beach Boys lineup, doesn’t perform with Love’s current Beach Boys formation — but does still hit the road as The Pet Sounds Band with members of Brian Wilson’s backing group. Bruce Johnston stepped away from touring earlier this year after 61 years on the band.

Read Stamos’ Oct. 11 note about Mike Love in its entirety below:

I’m boarding a plane to Nashville to play with the Beach Boys at the Ryman Auditorium, struggling to put my feelings into words.

My beloved friend, father figure, musical hero and mentor, Mike Love, is facing serious health challenges. We hope he’ll be doing what he loves for years to come, but we don’t know what the future holds. We have tonight.

Mike is a fighter. Despite doctors, family and friends urging him to focus on his health, he insists on being on stage. He says he needs his band, the audience, his friends and drummer surrounding him to lift him up.

I’ve played with Mike for 41 years. I never imagined how deeply it would affect me to see someone larger than life face something so human and fragile.

The Mike Love we see tonight may not be exactly the Mike we’ve always known. But he’s still every bit the Mike we love.

His lyrics, optimism, unforgettable hooks and more than 7,000 concerts have brought joy to generations. What he’s given me personally is immeasurable.

Forty-one years of stages, airplanes, hotel rooms, laughter and moments nobody else saw. He married Caitlin and me. He’s shared experiences with my family, and now my son.

Mike didn’t just give me a place in his band. He gave me a place in his life.

He taught me how to entertain, hold a stage, connect with an audience and make people feel something. I carry those lessons everywhere. He’s made me a better musician, entertainer and man.

This life with Mike and the Beach Boys has become part of my identity. I’ve felt entrusted with being a steward of this extraordinary music, carrying it to new generations.

Tonight, at the Ryman, sharing the stage with Mike, I want to be completely present. Hear every harmony, familiar joke and cheer. Feel that first chord hit and watch age, illness and time disappear. Just a bunch of guys making music together.

Maybe the hardest part of loving someone is becoming so accustomed to the miracle of having them there that you forget it’s a miracle at all.

Tonight, I won’t forget.

I want to cherish every second without feeling those seconds slipping away.

That’s what I’m giving him.

We don’t know what tomorrow brings. But we have tonight.

Harry Styles Dedicates Moment to Oscar Belgal After ICE Shooting: ‘Look After Each Other,’ He Tells NYC Crowd

On Saturday night, Harry Styles asked a sold-out Madison Square Garden crowd to turn their attention to Oscar Belgal, the 28-year-old man who was shot by ICE in his car in the Bronx, New York City, earlier this week while his 5-year-old son was in the backseat.

“I just want us to take a moment to think about Oscar Belgal tonight,” said Styles, guitar in hand before performing “Sign of the Times,” one of the final songs on his Together, Together setlist on Saturday (Oct. 10). Concertgoers captured the moment and uploaded the clip to TikTok, as they’ve done with many of Styles’ interactions with fans throughout the star’s 30-night residency at the Garden.

“I want us to just think, [to] remember, to just look after each other,” Styles told the audience in a speech in which he didn’t say “ICE,” but seemingly referenced the situation with ICE — and the administration’s deportation agenda — after saying Belgal’s name.

“It is up to us to make the cities that we live in places we want to see,” Styles said. “It’s up to us to make the world a place that we want to see, that we want to give to our children. So please continue looking after each other, and remember, your friends, the people you love, the people who don’t look like you and aren’t born where you are from: they deserve respect, love, dignity.”

“Please get home safely and look after each other,” Styles urged the crowd.

On Thursday, Belgal was backing his car into a parking spot in the Marble Hill neighborhood with his young son in tow when he was surrounded by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in plain clothes. His vehicle started to move forward, and he was shot in the neck, according to NYPD commissioner Jessica S. Tisch, who says at least one ICE officer fired seven shots.

City police, who are not involved in federal immigration enforcement, arrived at the scene after hearing a report of shots fired and transported Belgal to the hospital. Belgal is now being held at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, while the child is safe and in the care of a family member.

Federal officials described Belgal as an “illegal alien gang member” from the Dominican Republic who refused to get out of his car and “smashed into two government vehicles.”

Tisch reported Belgal has had two prior arrests in New York City: “One for robbery in 2023, in which he pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny and received five years’ probation, and one for criminal sale of a controlled substance in 2025, which is still pending.”

Mayor Zohran Mamdani held a press conference on Thursday, declaring, “What happened today was an outrage.” He stated, “There is no explanation for these tactics. There is no explanation for federal officers firing this many rounds into a car that has a 5-year-old in the car. There is no explanation.”

Mamdani said, “ICE agents surrounded the man’s vehicle before opening fire. They wore construction vests and masks that concealed their faces. There was no reasonable way to identify them as ICE agents. School had just gotten out. The street was crowded with families and children. When ICE agents opened fire, a 5-year-old child — a 5-year-old child — was in the backseat of the car. Thank God that child is physically unharmed.”

“Tonight, a 5-year-old child sits traumatized and terrified,” the mayor said at the time. “Tonight, millions of our neighbors are wondering whether they will be safe on our streets, in our schools, at their work sites. Tonight, New Yorkers across the five boroughs are asking whether their civil liberties will be respected, whether law and order is supposed to look like a man carrying a long gun, wearing a mask.”

Mamdani added, “I also want to say something on a personal note. I stand here not just as the mayor of our city, but as someone who is proud to be an immigrant in our city. And I know that these kinds of raids, this kind of terrorizing of this city, leave the 3 million immigrants of this city asking if they are safe here, if they belong here, if this, too, can be their home. We will not normalize ICE’s viciousness. We will not accept its cruelty.”

Styles’ historic concert residency at Madison Square Garden, where he performs Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 31, resumes with night 22 on Oct. 14.

He recently extended his touring plans into 2027 with a run of stadium dates in several more North American cities, including Phoenix, Dallas, Los Angeles, Toronto, Atlanta and Chicago, before the trek’s summer European leg.

Styles’ fourth studio album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in March, led by the Hot 100 chart topper “Aperture.”

She’s the Best, the new studio album from Troye Sivan, tops this week’s new music poll.

Listeners voted in a poll published Friday (Oct. 9) on Billboard, choosing Sivan’s latest full-length LP as their favorite new music.

The album rose above new releases from Cardi B, Slayyyter, Ez Mil with Eminem, Pitbull, Remi Wolf and more on the poll, landing 56% of the vote by closing time on Sunday.

“As long as there’s cultural conversation and people kind of listening to the songs and understanding what I’m trying to say, and watching the videos, that’s kind of my thing that I care about,” Sivan told Billboard during a recent interview on the release of his new album, which arrived Friday.

Of the set’s title track, “She’s the Best” — an advance single that boasts Nicole Kidman as the star of its music video — Sivan said, “It’s such an important song to me. It’s just something I hadn’t explored before in music. It’s something I’ve felt for my whole life and never really had a way to express it.”

“The album is such a journey,” he shared. “There’s sort of whiplash between these songs that I feel like I’m performing on stage — they’re super big, and bombastic — and then all of a sudden I’m like depressed and lonely in my hotel room, writing songs about this man I have not met yet, these manifestation love songs, there’s almost like this pathetic element to the album as well. I think I spent so much time in both of those places and neither felt like they were really totally fulfilling me.”

He continued, “When I arrived at ‘She’s the Best,’ I think that’s also why I made it the album title — I realized that was the one thing that is constant in my life, and that has always been constant, and the stability of it and the support I’ve had from the women and feminine people in my life has been the thing that’s got me through all areas.”

Coming up behind She’s the Best on the poll are Cardi B’s “Don’t Chart,” with 9% of the vote, and Slayyyter’s “I Think He’s Got a Girl,” with 7% of the vote.

Ella Langley returned to the stage in Lubbock, Texas, Saturday night (Oct. 10) after canceling Friday’s concert in Tulsa, Okla., due to a security threat that had been called in ahead of the event.

Though local law enforcement swept Tulsa’s BOK Center and its surroundings and determined the threat was not credible on Friday, the show was still called off. Langley explained why that decision was made on Saturday in Lubbock.

“When it comes to keeping you safe, and making sure that this show is a safe place for us to come and enjoy our music, it will happen. But the second it feels like it’s not, I’m not doing it. I’m not doing it because a concert’s not worth a human life. It’s not,” Langley said, as seen in a fan-filmed video clip from Saturday’s show at United Supermarkets Arena.

“I would’ve made yesterday’s decision 10 billion times over. I would have,” she added.

The “Choosin’ Texas” hitmaker — her single holds the record for the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — continued to address the situation for a couple more minutes before launching into her song “Loving Life Again.”

Langley told the crowd, “While I’m grateful to get to do what I do, it’s not the most important thing in this life. The most important thing in this life is the people around you that love you, and that are there for you no matter what. The most important thing in this life is making sure you wake up every day and feel like, you know what, I’m good today. I’m so grateful to have woken up today.”

She then turned to her faith, saying, “The most important thing in this life, number one, is your relationship with Jesus Christ.”

“If it wasn’t for Him, I would’ve canceled this show tonight,” said Langley, who’s currently on her Dandelion Tour, in support of her album of the same name. “I would have. But I felt this calling and this tug at my chest that says, ‘It’s OK. We are safe and we can do this show.’ I decided to [perform tonight] because of Him right there.”

She went on, “Every time I see ‘do not fear’ in the Bible, I underline it. Every single time. I’m not going to live in fear. We are going to put on music and get to do this for the rest of our lives, and I know that. I know that because this is my calling. This is the thing that I was called to do and I’m gonna continue doing it. Nobody is gonna talk me out of it or scare me out of it. No, you will not.”

“Thank you so much for showing up tonight,” Langley said to the audience. “I know yesterday was scary. It was scary for all of us. But we’re just so grateful to be playing this show tonight. We’re so grateful and we will never take this for granted.”

Langley’s Friday tour date in Tulsa was called off just a few hours before showtime. The announcement came via a statement from Langley’s team and the venue that read, in part, “Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans, venue personnel, and the artist, Ella Langley’s scheduled performance tonight at BOK Center in Tulsa has been canceled. The safety and well-being of everyone involved is our absolute priority, and, after careful consideration, we have determined that the show cannot proceed.”

The Tulsa Police Department released a statement Friday saying they’d swept the building and surrounding area and “found no credible threat to the event’s safety.”

In a video message posted online, Captain Richard Meulenberg communicated that there had been a threatening call received, with the caller saying someone was going to bring “great harm to the people at this event in the way of shots fired and bombs, so we came out again in an overabundance of caution … The person who called this in with a phone call disrupted this event for all these folks.”

For the first time, The Beatles, Drake and Taylor Swift are in the top 10, and top five, of the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Oct. 17) at the same time. The trio also represents the three acts with the most career No. 1s on the chart. The Beatles lead with 19, while Drake and Swift are tied with 15 each.

The Billboard 200 began publishing on a regular, weekly basis in March 1956.

On the latest Billboard 200, Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl tallies a 14th week at No. 1, Drake’s HABIBTI vaults 116-2 after it was reissued with four additional songs, and The Beatles’ former leader Rubber Soul, originally released in 1966, re-enters at No. 4 after its deluxe reissue.

Prior to the current week, Drake and Swift had shared space together in the top 10 numerous times between 2009-26. Meanwhile, The Beatles and Drake previously partnered up in the top 10 six times, most recently on the Oct. 30, 2021-dated chart when The Beatles’ Let It Be re-entered at No. 5 after its deluxe reissue, while Drake’s Certified Lover Boy was No. 1. The Beatles and Swift were together in the top 10 twice before, most recently on the Nov. 12, 2022-dated list, when The Beatles’ Revolver returned at No. 4 after its deluxe reissue, while Swift’s Midnights was No. 1.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 2,500 ad-supported or 1,000 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Oct. 17, 2026-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Oct. 13. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X and Instagram.
