Lizzo paid tribute to Dolly Parton this Halloween with a look inspired by the late country legend’s iconic “Jolene” era.
Among her several Halloween costumes this year, the 38-year-old singer and rapper channeled Parton in a look inspired by the artwork for her 1973 hit single.
“Singing Jolene tonight 4 U @dollyparton,” Lizzo captioned an Instagram video showing off the elaborate costume, which featured a skin-tight yellow jumpsuit adorned with floral designs and a platinum blonde wig.
In the clip, Lizzo also lip-syncs to Parton’s 1967 song “Dumb Blonde,” mouthing the lyrics, “Just cause I’m blonde, don’t think I’m dumb, ’cause this dumb blonde ain’t nobody’s fool.”
SZA was among those impressed by the look, taking to the comments to share her reaction. “How is everything u do perfect,” the singer wrote alongside a face with tears emoji.
In a second post, Lizzo shared several more photos of her Dolly-inspired costume, including one recreating an alternate “Jolene” single cover featuring a bright red background. Another snapshot shows the “Truth Hurts” singer holding a guitar in front of a framed gold certification plaque for Parton’s 2023 album, Rockstar.
The display also celebrates Lizzo’s contribution to Rockstar, Parton’s collection of covers and original songs. Lizzo appeared on the album’s rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven,” playing the flute.
“In 2024 when the world turned its back on me Dolly Parton asked me to play flute on her album,” Lizzo captioned the photo gallery. “I, of course said ‘hell yes’ and my only ask was that she credit Sasha Floot as well… she not only credited @sashabefluting we went on to get a plaque for that album.”
She continued, “Dolly, you icon you, thank you for believing in the good of humanity, for seeing our light in the darkness and loving us anyways! From H-Town to Nashville— ! We will always love you.”
Lizzo also showed off her love of anime for another Halloween costume in 2026, dressing up as Seiko Ayase from the series Dandadan. The singer went all out with the look, sporting a tall white wig and an oversized faux bust.
Deep Purple frontman Ian Gillan has been hospitalized following a medical emergency, forcing the legendary British rock band to postpone two concerts in Germany.
In a statement shared on Instagram Saturday (Oct. 31), Deep Purple announced “with great disappointment” that its concert at QI Arena in Leipzig that evening, as well as its upcoming performance at Sporthalle Hamburg, had been postponed.
“This comes as a result of a medical emergency involving Ian Gillan, which has resulted in his current hospitalisation,” wrote the band, which also features guitarist Simon McBride, bassist Roger Glover, drummer Ian Paice and keyboardist Don Airey.
Deep Purple did not provide further details about Gillan’s condition or indicate when he might be released from the hospital.
“We understand that this announcement comes at short notice and share the disappointment of all our wonderful fans that we are unable to perform in Leipzig and Hamburg.”
The band added that it is working to find a “suitable time to reschedule” both concerts. Tickets purchased for the original dates will remain valid for the rescheduled performances.
Deep Purple has been on the road for its SPLAT! world tour since late summer, with additional dates scheduled across Europe, the United Kingdom, South America and Mexico through late December.
Gillan has served as Deep Purple’s lead vocalist during multiple stints, first joining the band in 1969. He is the voice behind some of the British rock group’s best-known hits such as “Smoke on the Water”and “Highway Star.”
Gillan’s hospitalization comes just weeks after former Deep Purple bassist and vocalist Glenn Hughes underwent 10-hour open-heart surgery. Hughes, who announced his retirement from touring earlier this year, shared an update in mid-October, saying he was recovering at home following the procedure.
Donald Trump is addressing the possibility of Nicki Minaj becoming the next White House press secretary.
During a recent appearance on the political commentary podcast The Benny Show, the president was asked point-blank whether the “Super Bass” rapper could trade the recording studio for the White House briefing room.
“That’s a good idea. I think I’ll have to think about that. I’m gonna think about that,” Trump responded, before suggesting that host Benny Johnson would also be “pretty good” for the position.
The exchange comes as Minaj has become increasingly involved in Trump’s political activities, including joining him at a Michigan rally ahead of this year’s midterm elections.
At the Oct. 25 rally in Port Huron, Minaj showed her support for Republican candidates Mike Rogers and John James. Trump also acknowledged Minaj’s presence at the rally, inviting her to stand before the crowd and drawing attention to her “beautiful a—” while addressing supporters.
Minaj had traveled to Michigan aboard Air Force One with Trump and members of his administration ahead of the event. “#AirForceOneBARBIE,” she captioned a clip on X showing herself walking around the lavish aircraft.
Speculation about Minaj taking the role surfaced after press secretary Katie Zacharia left the job just five days after starting in mid-October. White House communications director Steven Cheung fueled the conversation when he shared footage of a mock interview with Minaj aboard Air Force One.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary,” Cheung captioned the video on X, tagging the rapper.
Earlier this year, Minaj also served as a judge for the Trump administration’s Million Dollar Pitch Competition, a small-business contest that awarded finalists part of a $1 million prize pool.
