American Idol entered its Taylor Swift era on Sunday night (April 27), with the remaining contestants taking on songs from Taylor Swift’s catalog for the show’s first episode dedicated entirely to the pop superstar.

The theme night featured seven contestants performing tracks spanning Swift’s career, from early country cuts like “Tim McGraw” and “Fearless” to later fan favorites including “Cardigan,” “Exile” and “Lover.”

Among the night’s performances, Keyla Richardson drew particular attention for her take on “Lover,” reworking the song into something that even guest judge Nikki Glaser said felt entirely new.

“I don’t even recognize that song!” Glaser said following the performance, praising Richardson for bringing a different interpretation to the track.

Judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood echoed that sentiment throughout the episode, emphasizing the challenge of performing Swift’s material — particularly songs so closely tied to her distinctive storytelling and vocal style.

Other performances included Chris Tungseth’s version of “Exile,” which Bryan called one of his favorite performances from the singer so far, and Jordan McCullough’s take on “Tim McGraw.”

Swift herself did not appear during the episode, though host Ryan Seacrest noted that dancers from her Eras Tour were part of the broadcast.

Originally released in 2019, Lover debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, becoming Taylor Swift’s sixth chart-topping album. The set spawned multiple hits, including “Lover,” which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The episode highlighted both the breadth of Swift’s catalog and the difficulty contestants face in reinterpreting it. By this stage of the competition, versatility has become a key differentiator, with contestants needing to balance familiarity with originality in order to stand out.

At the end of the night, Daniel Stallworth and Brooks Rosser were eliminated, narrowing the field as the competition moves toward its final rounds.

Next week’s episode will feature a return from former judges Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul as part of a special anniversary celebration.

Since the release of the 2026 Michael movie, Michael Jackson fans have been insatiable for more content on the “King of Pop.”

The biopic debuted in theaters on Friday (April 24), and was a massive success at the box office, bringing in a record-breaking $97 million domestic opening and a global launch of $217.4 million, according to Sunday estimates, The Hollywood Reporter reports. The success speaks to the lasting power Jackson has had on the world of music and pop culture, despite his passing in 2009. That’s around 16 years without the “Beat It” singer, and yet, his legacy prevails.

The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua, had the biggest opening weekend ever for a music biopic. Jackson’s life and career are the major draw of the film, but another selling point was the casting, specifically of Michael, who is played by his nephew Jaafar Jackson (son of Jermaine Jackson).

It’s an interesting choice, and one that likely aided in the film’s success, given his portrayal has been applauded by many in the Jackson family. “I was flabbergasted. I have to tell you that you think it’s Mike,” MJ’s sister La Toya Jackson told The Hollywood Reporter of the portrayal. “You forget it’s Jaafar; you think it’s Michael.”

If you’re looking for even more Jackson content, below, we’ve included where you can watch a few other documentaries about him for free, along with a few books.

Nia Long has been name-dropped a ton by rappers during her TV and film career, thanks to being associated with classics including Boyz n the Hood, Friday and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Everyone from Phife Dawg to FERG to Juicy J to Webbie to Chingy to Lil Wayne to Ghostface Killah have all mentioned her in their music in one way or another. However, the most notable mention has to be attributed to Ye (formerly Kanye West) on the song “Touch the Sky,” in which he raps, “Couldn’t keep it at home, thought I needed a Nia Long.”

The actress, who also starred in the music video alongside Tracie Ellis Ross, recently sat down with BlackTree TV to promote her latest role as Michael Jackson‘s mother, Katherine Jackson, in the biopic Michael and was asked what her favorite lyric about her was.

“I’m going to go with Kanye’s because I was in that video,” she said. “That video was iconic. I just think Kanye is such a visionary with his music, his visuals. He’s a very talented artist, so I’mma go with that one.”

Elsewhere in the interview, she was asked what she would like to see in a Michael sequel (if it ever happens), and she said that she hopes they tackle how his relationship changed with his mother as he became “more independent in his manhood and how he works through certain challenges; personal and professionally.”

Michael is already shattering box office records.

Lionsgate’s Michael Jackson biopic debuted in theaters Friday (April 24), earning a record-breaking $97 million domestic opening and a global launch of $217.4 million, according to Sunday estimates, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

The Antoine Fuqua-directed film delivered the biggest opening ever for a music biopic, surpassing Universal’s Straight Outta Compton, which debuted to $60.1 million in 2015. Fox’s Bohemian Rhapsody opened to $51 million in 2018, ranking as the second-biggest debut for a music biopic.

The Queen biopic remains the highest-grossing music biopic of all time, with $910 million worldwide, and earned Rami Malek a best actor Oscar for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury.

Michael now also holds the biggest domestic opening of all time for a biopic, surpassing Oppenheimer ($80 million), not adjusted for inflation, according to THR.

“This record-breaking performance is a testament to the incredible filmmaking team of producer Graham King and director Antoine Fuqua, an amazing cast led by Jaafar Jackson’s singular performance, our world-class partners at Universal, the cooperation and support of the Michael Jackson Estate, and our tireless and exceptionally talented Lionsgate team,” Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson said in a statement.

“Above all, it reflects the tremendous outpouring of love and affection from moviegoers around the world, underscoring the strength and vitality of the theatrical box office. If you give audiences what they want, they will come.”

Michael grossed $38.5 million domestically on opening day Friday and was off to a strong start overseas, with an international launch in the $114 million range, THR reports.

Heading into the weekend, the film had been tracking to open between $65 million and $70 million domestically. Nearly 40% of its gross is coming from IMAX and other premium large-format screens. The biopic’s momentum was evident early, earning $12.6 million from Wednesday and Thursday preview screenings.

Michael has drawn strong audience reception, with a 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, PostTrak exit scores in the low 90s, and a definite recommend of 85%. It also earned an A- on CinemaScore. The movie is attracting a broad audience across demographics, led by Black and female movie-goers, according to THR.

The long-anticipated film stars the King of Pop’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in the title role, charting his rise from fronting The Jackson 5 in the 1970s to launching a solo career that reached historic heights. The story culminates with the release of Thriller, the best-selling album in pop music history.

Michael is the first installment of a planned two-part biopic.

Billboard VIP Pass

Foo Fighters are booked as musical guest on this weekend’s SNL UK, but fans didn’t have to wait for the band’s live performance to air for their first Dave Grohl spotting of the night.

For Bridgerton and Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan’s turn hosting Saturday night’s (April 25) episode of the original SNL spinoff, an American SNL veteran popped in — to encourage the Irish actress to make some mischief while the cameras are rolling during the program’s live broadcast. Viewers in the United States can catch a clip of her monologue below from broadcaster Sky TV.

After making a monologue joke about consuming “a staggering amount of cocaine” to recreate “the magic of original 1970s SNL,” Coughlan says in the video, “But look, it’s an honor to be hosting. It’s sort of feels like I manifested it somehow. It’s almost like this place is like, magic.”

“That’s because it is,” announces Jimmy Fallon, appearing on stage out of the blue to impart “the biggest secret of SNL” to Saturday’s host.

“Don’t tell anyone, but … it’s live,” Fallon says. “It’s actually live. You can do whatever you want. You can go wherever you want. You’re the host. They don’t stop you!”

And so the pair takes a backstage stroll that has Coughlan feeling the power that comes with taking control. Run-ins with cast members ensue, but it’s a certain rock musician that stops her in her tracks.

“Jimmy. Jimmy. It’s Dave Grohl,” Coughlan says in a hushed tone upon spotting the Foo Fighters vocalist, to which Fallon suggests, “You should ask him to be best friends — because we’re live. He has to say yes.”

Coughlan shoots her shot. Sure enough, Grohl plays the yes man: “Sure, why not?” he replies. The new besties share a high five and heart hands.

“That was incredible!” Coughlan exclaims.

Watch Coughlan’s SNL monologue, featuring Jimmy Fallon plus a cameo from Dave Grohl, in the video below uploaded to the official SNK UK YouTube channel. She’s currently one of the stars in the family film The Magic Faraway Tree, now playing in the U.K. and set for release in the U.S. in August.

Tyla may have gone viral with her hit song, “Chanel,” but for the rest of us, it’s no small feat to land a coveted bag from the house that Coco built.

For starters, Chanel bags can run into the tens of thousands of dollars, especially classic styles like the quilted flap bag. New styles like the Chanel 25, which made its debut in the Spring/Summer 2025 collection and counts Dua Lipa and Jennie as ambassadors, can still cost you upwards of $5,000 — and that’s if you can get your hands on one in store. Like an Hermes bag, many Chanel bags are only available for purchase for VIP customers, or people who have spent a pre-set amount on other pieces (think clothing, footwear and accessories) in store. Not everyone has the money to make that happen.

So color us thrilled when we spotted this Chanel 25 dupe for just $65 on Amazon. While stars like Margot Robbie and Nicole Kidman carry the real thing, we think this cheaper alternative looks pretty convincing to the naked eye.

‘Faux-bo” Bag: Dua Lipa & JENNIE Love Their Chanel 25 But You Can Get a Dupe on Amazon for Just

BEST DUPE

Quilted Leather Hobo Bag with Chain Strap Drawstring

A new release on Amazon, this bag features a genuine leather construction according to the manufacturer, with a classic quilted pattern and metallic chain.

Marketed as a hobo bag, the bag cinches in the middle for that slouchy, boho look, but it can also be expanded to be carried as a tote, or under the arm as a shoulder bag. Measuring approximately 12 x 6 x 8 inches in size, there’s enough room inside for your wallet, makeup, charger and other daily accessories. An interior zip pocket is great to stash your cards, cash and other valuables. There’s also a side pocket on the outside.

This is one of the better Chanel 25 dupes we’ve seen online and reviewers agree, saying that the bag looks “way more expensive” than its price point, and praising the surprisingly thick material, which helps the bag keep its structure and shape. You’ll note that while Chanel bags use silver chains, the chain detailing here is made from metal. What that means: the bag will be more lightweight, but it won’t have the same thickness and shine as true silver.

Women’s Pre-Loved Chanel Red Calfskin 22 Bag

Of course if you want an actual Chanel, Amazon has that too. We didn’t find a Chanel 25 online, but we did spot this Chanel 22 bag for sale as part of Amazon’s pre-loved selection with the popular vintage store What Goes Around Comes Around.

Made from a luxe and supple calfskin, this bag is officially certified as the real deal, and while it’s definitely pricey compared to the Chanel alternatives above, consider this a true investment piece.

Kevin Hart is cautious when it comes to Cam’ron‘s interview style — and rightfully so, because the Harlem rapper isn’t afraid to ask the tough questions.

During a recent taping of Talk With Flee, Cam started the show off explaining how he ran into the actor and tried to get him on the episode. However, Hart wasn’t going for it, telling him, “Absolutely not,” because — according to him — Cam’ron has “the most dangerous show in the world” due to the controversial subjects Killa has the propensity to bring up. Although, the comedian did say that he would appear on the show, only if they “schedule it the right way.”

Related

Thankfully, though, Kevin happened to walk by the studio as Cam finished speaking about him and was eventually coerced into sitting down for a quick couple of questions after being flagged down. And as soon as he walked in, he pleaded with Cam saying, “Please don’t f— up my career.”

When Hart was asked why he blurted out “damn!” after fellow actor Don Cheadle told him his age in a now-viral clip, he said: “It was a real reaction. I’m shocked at the age of some, and Don definitely looks his age, but I wasn’t ready to hear it. So that was just a real reaction. ‘Damn!’ But then I immediately retracted it, which made it right.”

Hart then allowed Cam to ask him one more question, and this is where things took a turn. Cam’ron brought up the 2002 movie Paper Soldiers, in which Hart made his film debut thanks to a mutual friend. “Your very first movie you did — I was actually in it,” Cam said. “When you see Dame Dash today, what do you think?”

Without answering, Hart just got up and walked out of the interview which, of course, caused the entire studio to erupt in laughter.

Killa has a knack for going viral. The most recent interview to get traction was his sitdown with J. Cole, where the two hashed out their differences over a lawsuit Cam filed regarding his guest verse on the Carolina rapper’s mixtape Might Delete Later.
