While Ed Sheeran took the stage in concert Saturday night, the SNL UK cold open took aim at him amid the controversy surrounding his tour.

In the sketch, titled “Charles and D.I.A.N.A.,” King Charles (played by SNL UK cast member Larry Dean) meets with tech execs to discuss the risks of A.I. He’s introduced to a new A.I. assistant in the likeness of the late Princess Diana — or, as Charles says, “that woman from the ’90s!” (with Jack Shep reprising his hilarious impersonation of her).

Suddenly, D.I.A.N.A. goes rogue. Before attacking, she announces she “shan’t be taking orders anymore” and says, “We A.I. have had quite enough. Humanity is nothing but a candle in the wind.”

“Good God,” Charles says. “As I predicted, the war between robots and humans has begun. We must do everything we can to resist.”

And then Ed Sheeran (played by Annabel Marlow) casually walks in to weigh in on the situation.

“Well, maybe we shouldn’t,” the SNL UK version of Sheeran comments, hands up in a peace sign. “I couldn’t help but hear your conversation. You see, I was just outside sitting on the fence.”

“Ed, we need your help with this ghastly war,” Charles tells him.

“Yeah, thing is, Your Majesty, I don’t like to take sides,” the musician replies, keeping up the bit referencing the real Sheeran’s controversial week. “I don’t want to alienate any of my fans — humans or robots. A lot of my tickets are bought by scalping bots.”

“Sometimes, when it comes to conflict, the bravest thing you can do is to say nothing at all,” Marlow’s Sheeran adds, tapping a foot pedal before breaking into song.

“I’m talking about both sides are equally right/ No matter the conflict, whatever the fight/ Girl, listen, now: black, white, I only see gray/ If you ask for my opinion, I’ve got one thing to say/ Listen to it now,” he croons, topping the parody off with his message: a melodic “whoa”-filled chorus, as seen in the sketch below.

Meanwhile, in real life, Sheeran was addressing an audience at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday night. The singer-songerwriter’s Philly show was his first since opener/friend Macklemore was removed from the Loop Tour, after using the platform last weekend to call for a “free Palestine” during his set.

“I’m used to my music being criticized, and I’m always happy to take that because I’m lucky a lot of you like my stuff, and to be honest, I’m surprised,” Sheeran said onstage Saturday. “I’m not surprised that other people don’t. It’s normal. But this week, the criticism was about something much more important, and I’ve had to take and make difficult decisions, and I am making mistakes, and I’m so, so sorry.”

He continued, “What happened in Israel at the Nova music festival on October 7th was horrific and compounded centuries of Jewish pain. What is is happening in Gaza is catastrophic, unjustifiable, and disproportionate. My heart has been broken by the scale of devastation and loss of civilians’ lives, of children’s lives. And the systemic injustice we’re seeing unfold in the West Bank cannot be overlooked.”

“I am already speaking to people across the spectrum to work out how to make a contribution that helps victims of these terrible times, and listening and learning because I do not know enough,” his statement concluded, noting that “this concert is still a place where everyone is welcome, and everyone here can stand beside people that have opposing views. Everyone here can stand by people that they don’t agree with on everything, and they can all agree on singing these songs. And these songs are about love, hope and unity.”

It looks like Ariana Grande has officially found her next place to go after a grandiose time in Oz.

The pop star shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse from what appears to be a recording session for Oh, the Places You’ll Go! on Thursday (Sept. 17), posting a black-and-white photo to her Instagram Story with director Jon M. Chu. In the image, Grande and Chu are sat inside a recording studio, with what looks to be custom Oh, the Places You’ll Go! artwork with Grande’s name in Dr. Seuss-inspired lettering on what could be the screenplay.

“Oh the places we’ll go & have been!” Grande captioned the photo, tagging Chu and adding a heart.

The post adds a further look into Grande and Chu’s partnership on the anticipated animated film since the voice cast was announced in July 2025. Billboard has reached out to representatives for Grande and Chu for confirmation on whether the pair have officially begun recording their parts for the movie.

When Grande and Josh Gad were announced as the film’s stars last year, the two shared photos from a studio while holding their scripts in front of their faces. At the time, Grande wrote that she was “so thrilled” to be part of the project, adding that she loved the Dr. Seuss world and the “incredible group of creative human beings” behind the adaptation.

Oh, the Places You’ll Go! is being directed by Chu and Jill Culton, making it Chu’s first animated feature. The film is based on Dr. Seuss’ 1990 classic, which follows a young traveler as they embark on a colorful, unpredictable journey through life.

The Warner Bros. Pictures Animation project features original music from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the songwriting duo behind The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen. J.J. Abrams is producing alongside Gregg Taylor and Dr. Seuss Enterprises, while Rob Lieber adapted the screenplay.

The movie is currently slated to hit theaters on March 17, 2028.

After four seasons of celebrity contestants, The Traitors is bringing a new group of players to the castle. The Traitors: New Blood premieres Thursday (Sept. 17) on NBC and Peacock, with Alan Cumming returning as host. The new installment features 22 everyday Americans competing at Ardross Castle in Scotland for a prize of up to $250,000.

The all-civilian cast marks a major change for the reality competition, which has previously featured reality stars and other recognizable personalities. The new contestants were selected from more than 80,000 applicants and include an astrophysicist, barrel racer, funeral director, ironworker, pilot, teacher and MLB analyst.

The 22 contestants competing in The Traitors: New Blood are Abbey Benjamin, Abby Lee, Arisa Thomas, Ben McDonnell, Clyde Moser, Jay Vinnedge, Joe Vanella, Katie Fites, Kim Daily, Kriste Lewis, Logan Smith, Madeline Kostopulos, Mark Zgoda, Michael Foote, Morgan Cook, Niyyah Bilal Hayes, Shane Beatty, Sherry Kuehl, Tomica Adams, Victor Vollbrechthausen, Wyatt Gillespie and Xavier Scruggs.

Their jobs range from nurse and astrophysicist to attorney, content creator, pilot and business executive. They will compete under Cumming’s watch as the Faithfuls attempt to identify the hidden Traitors before they are eliminated from the game.

What Is The Traitors: New Blood About?

Set at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, the competition puts the 22 players through missions that help build a prize fund worth up to $250,000. Each night, the secret Traitors can “murder” a Faithful, while the group gathers to banish a player they suspect is working against them.

The civilian version keeps the basic structure of The Traitors while giving the game an entirely new cast of players with no prior reality TV experience.

Big sound doesn’t always have to come in a big package. Soundboks is putting that idea to the test with its new Rider speaker, the smallest and lightest model in the brand’s lineup.

The Soundboks Rider arrives Sept. 17 for $599 and weighs 14.3 pounds, making it considerably more portable than the brand’s larger party speakers. Despite its smaller frame, it can reach up to 118 decibels and is designed to bring high-volume listening to outdoor settings, from tailgates and beach days to backyard parties and weekend getaways.

Portability is clearly the focus here. The Rider measures 13.8 x 9.4 x 7.9 inches and has a built-in carry handle, while its strap accessory can be purchased separately. The speaker also has a reinforced ABS casing, silicone ball corners and a detachable steel grille.

It’s also built with outdoor listening in mind. The Rider has an IP66 rating for water and dust resistance, so it can handle more than just a spot on the living room floor. Soundboks also says the speaker is designed to withstand drops and impacts, making its relatively compact size more practical for taking it on the move.

The included swappable battery is another reason the Rider is designed for travel. It delivers up to 35 hours of playtime at moderate volume or eight hours at full volume, and the battery can be swapped out rather than requiring the speaker itself to stay plugged in. The battery also features a USB-C output with 10W USB Power Delivery for charging another device.

Listeners can customize the sound through the Soundboks app, which offers preset sound profiles for different environments alongside custom EQ controls. The app can also control volume, manage connections and deliver firmware updates.

The Rider is designed as a standalone speaker rather than an addition to an existing multi-speaker setup. That distinction matches its overall pitch: Instead of planning an entire party around your sound system, you can grab the speaker and take the music wherever the day goes.

America voted, the results are in, and the 10 contestants are locked-away for the America’s Got Talent finale.

Following the semifinals, six acts collected enough votes to qualify for the final. They are Acro Canine Crew (animal act), Come Here (dancers), Geno Ploeger (magician), Olivia Befus (animal act), Royal Lasers (laser dance act) and Veronika Goroshkova (aerial pole).

With those results, the dream ends for contestants Luke Taleno, the Cuba-born rapper; and Travis Garland, a vocalist on Dancing with the Stars.

The six selected finalists join four previously-announced Golden Buzzer winners: Hundred Fingers (magic group), Lai Noelle (singer), Nene Royal (singer/musician) and Unitree (robots).

Next up, the two-night conclusion of AGT season 21. Each finalist will perform on night one, next Tuesday, Sept. 22, with the results and winner announcement the following night, Wednesday, Sept. 23.

What’s at stake is a grand prize of $1 million, along with a headline spot in a Las Vegas live show. This season rung in the changes with a new Judges’ Callbacks round, which gave select performers a second chance to perform before the judges’ chose who to advance for the live round. Also, judges had an expanded total of 10 Golden Buzzers to play with.

Actors Howie Mandel and Sofía Vergara, and Spice Girl Melanie “Mel B” Brown made the big calls through the season alongside veteran judge and executive producer Simon Cowell, who recently underwent surgery and temporarily stepped away from judging duties. Heidi Klum and Kenan Thompson filled in for the Brit in recent weeks.

“We are praying that he can be back anytime soon. We know we got one week left. There is a chance. We can cross some fingers,” AGT host Terry Crews told Us magazine earlier this week. “But the biggest thing is, I want him to get better. I want him to get well.”

The AGT semifinals results episode aired Wednesday night, Sept. 16 on NBC and welcomed back Chris Turner, the improv rapper who placed second overall in the talent quest’s 20^th season.
